Mexico Infiltrates Catalina Island. Consular Issues Matricular Cards
Maggie's Notebook ^ | June 3, 2010 | Maggie M. Thornton

The L.A. Mexican Consular is setting up an office on California's Catalina Island. They plan to issue "matricular cards" to aliens there. Mexico doesn't discriminate; hey issue cards to legals and illegals.

In this report, I learned that lovely Catalina Island is now a haven for human trafficking and drug smuggling.

American financial institutions gladly take matricular cards and assume the person is legal, knowing they probably are not.

Been like that for more years than I care to share. I spent summers there with family on the family boat. That was in the late 60’s the 70’s and a little in the 80’s that’s when it stated getting weird Its still an OK place to go but the complexion has changed no pun intended

Open corruption, organized crime, and government malfeasance!
If US citizens allow this to stand, then they lost their country, constitutional freedoms, and economic security because they didn't care enough to fight for them! IMHO

May ICE should photograph everyone going in and when they come out, grab them and deport them back to their home country.

It’s an internal Mexican issue between their government and their citizens, even if it’s happening here. We don’t have any legal authority to stop it. However, the Consulate was over the line asking U.S. officials to stop enforcing immigration laws while they were working. I would have parked an ICE truck in front of the country club.

” ... It’s an internal Mexican issue between their government and their citizens ... “
Agreed ...BUT ... US Gov has some say in where the consulate is located, and if it where acting in the best interests of it's citizens, would be sending strong diplomatic protest to Mexico for attempt to interfere with US sovereignty and exercise of its duty to regulate immigration!

I agree with you. I simply wish to point out that the Matricular Consular card is an internal document, issued by the Mexican government to its overseas citizens. I've also seen Guatemalan Matricular Consular cards.

What I'd like to see is good, workable system of temporary visas so people could work in the States and go home. It would help us; it would help Mexicans too. (Pay $650 for a visa or pay $2000 for a coyote? Hmmmm....)

Yes your are Correcto Mundo! That is why I see deeper, more sinister motives for both parties to be supporting the overrunning of our nation with undocumented Mexican workers, and then grant amnesty and citizenship.

Ahhhh the “greeter”....... those were good days to go to Catalina, though we spent most of the time on the boat or on the beach, I remember hanging out and one time we sawTony Dow, from Leave it to Beaver over there playing ping pong, ~LOL~ made our teenage hearts go flutter, he was very cute and friendly.... BTW PBS is having a special on the “old” Catalina Island on june 10th and one of the hosts is === Tony Dow!!!!!!!

Here is the link..... looks like this will be interesting to those of us who used to frequent it back in the old days... no wonder we saw Tony Dow, it says his parents vacationed there every summer.. I remember he was just very comfortable and not a show off or impressed with who he was, just hanging out with all the other kids who summered over there...
