Yesterday, I was interviewed by a reporter for CBS, for a story on the diverse groups of people supporting Sarah Palin online. The reporter authored a book on Palin last year, after being embedded with her vice presidential campaign, following a stint covering Mittens Romney. I cant imagine how many cucumbers-and-mayonnaise sandwiches this guy had to eat on the Romney Express (to nowhere), but I gave him the same kind of awed respect I grant anyone whos ever spent more than half an hour with Tim Pawlenty and didnt succumb to T-Paw induced narcolepsy.
We (the reporter and I, not Tim Pawlenty or Mittens) met up at Nookies Tree in Boystown and talked about Sarah Palin over coffee. Doing enough of these interviews over the course of the last few years, and being interviewed by some great people like Andrea Shea King and Tammy Bruce, I can usually spot the story the reporter wants to tell by the way his questions unfold and what he keeps coming back to whenever I take the conversation on one of my tangents about how terrible the current administration is. The story CBS wants to do on Palins supporters appears to be something in the realm of an unthinking, personal, and emotional defense of a woman they love. Its not a negative story, and the reporter doesnt seem like the kind who would write a hit piece, on either Palin herself or on me as a Palin-supporter, but the impression I got from him was that hes projecting the Lefts Obama cult of personality onto Palin supporters when nothing could be further from the truth.
Most of the questions asked of me were in the vein of how I felt whenever Palin was attacked, and what makes me defend her.

The 2012 election is going to be a mess. Myth is not someone who will get me or my family to the polls and Sarah will turn off the “good ole boy” Massachusetts Republican-lites. I sure hope we have a 3rd option other than Hussein or we’re screwed.
For the life of me I can not see one state that bush and McCain won in 2004 and 2008 that Palin would lose even with the Mitt wing staying home. They just do not have the votes in those states to make a difference they are mostly concentrated in the Northeast and the west coast.
I can see some states that Palin would place in play that Mitt would never like Wis, Minn and Mi.
while the general election might be a mess the EC votes(state votes) should not be that big of a mess.
Honestly, I do hope that either one of her primary opponents, or the Democrat in the general, brings this up. I really do. Because if they bring up the fact that she quit, she gets to bring up why. And as much as they don’t want it to, why matters. She didn’t just wake up one morning of an uneventful first term as governor and say “Eh...I’m bored. I don’t want to do this anymore. I’d rather go out and have fun and make money on the lecture circuit.” It was about as far from that as it could be. I know it. You know it. Any fair-minded person who looks at that history knows it. And that it’s still going. So, yeah, let’s make the campaign against her about that. Come on, guys. I dare you.
The smartest thing they could have done was to leave Palin alone and try to survive in the post-election political environment. She would have had a tough time winning reelection because the Democrats were now against her and so were many in her own party. Of course she might have done well, showed her meddle, and been left in a strong position for 2012. That was what they feared, so the national Dims went full bore against her. The timing of her resignation came before she suffered any significant political defeats. This left her free to flank their efforts to marginalize her and to appeal to her many supporters in the lower 48. What frustrates them is that she is such an unconventional politician.
I realize that Charles and Billy are hardly leading Conservatives, but Charles K gets the Fox Special report panel to shout from, as well as his syndicated column that the libs are quick to shout from the rooftops about whenever he writes about Sarah. It`s always negative.
I gave up watching Special report basically because of that. The regular panel now for the so called right is Steve Hayes and Charles K, both of them are openly not fans of Sarah. I emailed Bret Baer about this many times, asking how that is fair and balanced? He replied that it was OK
Why not ask Romney the same thing since he’s heading to AZ to campaign for McCain too.
Mitt Romney’s real “secret weapon”
is his own abysmal stupidity!
No surprise to see that he has joined the MSM/DNC attack on the only candidate that is a real solution, rather than an essential element of the problem!
.
“Jim DeMint”
.
Typical Washington insider - part of the problem, not in any way part of the solution.
.
Romney is not even a natural born citizen.
His parents were Mexicans. That is why he attacks
Gov.Palin and helps the criminal illegals.
His father was the Chairman of American Motors...
We’ll watch to see precisely who supports his candidacy.
Never again.
Personally, I don't see how she can overcome the negative connotations of quitting...oh, I'm sorry... resigning...mid-way through her first term.
And, please don't start with the "She was $500,000 in debt for the 'frivolous' ethics complaints" song and dance.
Mrs Palin campaigned on "cleaning up corruption" and she herself signed the (rather vaguely written) AK ethics legislation into law. Didn't she read what she had enacted? That's just what we need--more pols who don't read what they sign.
Personally, I am very disturbed by someone using their office to try to have someone fired due to a personal, family grudge. (This, if you will recall, was the one complaint not dismissed by the Governor-appointed ethics review board.) I am also troubled by having an unelected spouse butt in to government business. (We certainly bristled when HRC did it, didn't we?)
Yep, I'm glad that the blogger in the original article believes that camp Romney is going to be hitting the "Q" question. That way, we don't have to have a rehash of Mrs Palin's ethical escapades and the retelling of the tawdry antics of her family.
Have a great day!
You do give too much credit to the lib talking points, which is a bit disconcerting.
I'll ask again, are you a mitten? And if not do you support a candidate (or plural)?
Well, they bother me.
I am embarrassed to say, I'm not really sure what a "Mitten" is. You said it isn't a pejorative. I am not sure.
Just as Mrs Palin needs a good answer to the "Q" question, Gov. Romney has to have a clear and convincing answer why he signed the present incarnation of "Romneycare" into law.
He has stated that he knew it was flawed, that is, not really what he had originally proposed. So, why did he sign it anyway?
OTOH, he could use his experience to mount a (perhaps convincing) "repeal and replace" argument against Obamacare.
Who knows?
So you haven't answered, who do you support?
We have sent monies to DeVore, JD, and Schiff. For Michigan races, we have sent a contribution to Pete Hoekstra, and are thinking about sending something to Thaddeus McCotter, because, although is not my Congressman, he rocks.
*Feeling sheepish*
I did notice the evasion however.....
:-)
