(Video) Jackboot to the Throat--FDA Claims Citizens Have No Right of Access to Certain Foods

In yet another arrogant display of the federal government's jackboot to the throat of America and of its troubling disregard for the rights of citizens, the Food and Drug Administration now claims that Americans have no fundamental inherent right of access to certain foods.

The agency also claims that Americans do not have a fundamental right to grow their own food, to sell it as they see fit, or to engage in contractual agreements with other citizens in forming food coops.

Neighborhood food coops, such as this one, The Lots O'Greens, in Detroit, would be banned under new FDA rules. (AP Photo/Carlos Osorio).

This direct, frontal assault on the U.S. Constitution, the rights of ordinary citizens, and the long-established American way of life is the result of a case involving the sale and transporting of raw milk across state lines.

In a pinch, we will buy eggs at the supermarket. But, our usual source is our vet who keeps chickens and sells the eggs at his clinic, or down at the feed store where farmers bring in their eggs. After you have eaten these eggs, you never want to touch a supermarket egg again. Looks like the FDA Gestapo is going to be hauling my vet and the feed store owner off to a reeducation camp. Barackistan at its finest.

Let's see if the FDA has the balls to stop Michelle.

They want to restrict you from access to healthy items as well, so that the large dairy corporations and mega-food and grocery industries can form a monopoly--all with the blessing and enforcement of the federal government.

The FDA abuses EVERYBODY. Big or small, hippie business or mega pharmaceutical company. It's the nature of the beast.

It is not trying to serve anyone, except its own existence. Really.

Could it possibly be any *more* obvious that she’s *never* done this, before?

Huh. At least we still live in America! where we are FREE!

This is the home of the brave and land of the free!

If you keep tearing down USA! USA!, I’m going to think you Hate America First!

You’re free! Can’t you choose to drink the light beer you prefer and watch the sporting events you choose to watch?

What more could you want out of freedom?

If you say you aren’t free, you love terrorists!

No right to grow our own food? We have the right to life. To live, we require food. The government has no authority to mandate that we purchase food instead of grow it ourselves.

The government overstepped its boundaries a long time ago. It’s past time we put them in their place.

Threatening to take away my food is a threat against the lives of my family and me. I will respond accordingly if pushed to do so.

I built us a small covered henhouse and run over the winter and have six layers in there now. We expect first eggs by June and full production by September. I figure we should average five eggs a day when they are in full lay.

I’m not selling eggs though, because out here to do that you need an egg handling permit, submit to inspections and all that. We’re planning on giving eggs away, and if someone wants to drop off a bag of layer rations once in a while in exchange, that’s just fine too.

The coop is very inconspicuous and you cannot see it from any of the surrounding streets and only from the property next door. Nobody knows it’s there, and those who do are already on the free egg list. I have the cleanout door opening right next to my compost pile, so all of the droppings are recycled, there is no smell and since I insulated the walls of the henhouse they are quiet as well as warm.

Check into your locality’s laws, and you might be surprised to find out that you are permitted small numbers of urban livestock. The only restrictions on chickens here are maximum numbers, and no roosters. For eggs you don’t want roosters anyway.

You are a total KOOK! What other conspiracies do you believe in?

I've heard it here a million times: If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to fear!

Maybe you love Osama bin Laden!

Remember American exceptionalism! We are fundamentally different than every other human being that has ever lived because of geography.

IT CAN’T HAPPEN HERE!

I’ve been reading about this for quite some time now.

My local health food emporium, and the bleeding-heart liberals who own it and work there, know nothing about this legislation.
