The politics behind the race to unseat progressive Democrat John Hall (NY Distr. 19) from the US Congress sadly makes for a good sitcom on comedy central. The problem is people are nutty in their own right, and they bring this nuttiness to the political process where well meaning adults sometimes act like twelve year-olds.
Tea party groups eager to become politically involved and embroiled in their own turf wars are rookies who need time to learn from mistakes and mature. Political parties are forced to be more transparent than usual (since the electorate is paying closer attention) are peeved because they have invested years building their respective Party, and the newly assembled tea party screams Do what we say!
Most of the players involved are smart people who, deep down inside, want whats best for their Party, but view elections as pay-back time too. Motivated members are anxious to boost their clout by supporting the candidate they think can win, with the hope of furthering the organizations agenda and furthering ones career (theres nothing wrong with that). Ambition and zeal, however, can affect ones judgment, and as a result, unqualified candidates are pushed to the spotlight without close enough review (theres something wrong with that).
For example, Kristia Cavere, a political novice, garnished support for her seeming competence and credentials. That was until she claimed a national record for Congressional candidates by asserting $50,000 a week in fundraising yet to date failed to produce a timely Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing heading into the respective Party state conventions in the coming weeks.

Sweep out the RINO poop.
It’s worth making an effort to find a strong conservative candidate, because the Dem, Hall, is a complete and total idiot...unable to speak a cogent or coherent sentence..probably way to many dead brain cells from all his time on tour in his previous life..In a sea change election, the district could flip. It was reliably GOP for many years..then the Westchester burbs became more Dem as all the libs moved out of the mess they had made of Manhattan..Also, when the Clintons moved to Chappaqua, in 2000, the lower part was redistricted in Nita Lowey’s district, so that Slick’s congressman ( then Sue Loewy) would not be someone who voted to impeach him...The problem in NY State, is that it will lose one, probably two CD in the next redistricting, so even if the GOP manages to pick up a seat this time out..it will be redistricted out of existence next election..
I’m looking at the state Senate races and it is hopeful that New York Republicans will take back control in the Senate. In that instance Senate Repubs have a say in redistricting.
My old district! Who’s the Conservative candidate?
Are Republicans even trying to win this seat or just putting up a “nice” canddiate so we can “prove” that it’s hopeless?
I’m trying to get Republicans to support McFadden, but as of this point they are divided between the two.
Who’s teh Conservative Party nominee? The Republicans will never win the district without the Conservatives.
We’ll find out at the convention on May 28th. But I’m hoping the Conservatives nominate David McFadden.
