According to Chicopee, MA Police Chief, John Ferraro Jr. (see video below) it all started when Matthew Brace, his girlfriend and their 3-month old daughter went to Pride Travel Center Truckstop (located at 363 Burnett Road, Chicopee, MA 01020). Ferraro states that an employee (currently unnamed) asked Brace how old their daughter was, at which point Brace took his daughter, placed her in the employee’s truck and said “You can have her for a couple of 40’s” (slag for 40 ounce bottles of beer or malt liquor). Once the baby was in the truck, the employee demanded that the child be removed and then told Mr. Brace that he would be calling the police, at which point the couple took the baby and left. Giving her back isn’t “saving” her! If he would sell his daughter for beer, there are very few limits on his next “sale”! The employee should have kept the girl and called police on her parents.

The author and editor need to invest in a spellchecker.

And open himself up to a kidnapping charge?

Matt Brace can look forward to being traded for a pack of smokes in the pokey.

From the comments on the masslive article it looks like they were looking for drugs - not beer - 2 40’s being 2-$40 bags of coke/crack.

They don’t sell beer in that Gas Station anyways.
Weird story
Lots of homeless living in hotels in these areas...

Or he could trade a pack of smokes in exchange for not getting @$$ raped.

That’s true... it would be his word against theirs. I withdraw my comment.
