Isn’t sorta settled that our government failed. At least for one 4 year stretch, I mean. Remember when we had that little civil war?

Surely, for the sake of posterity, American citizens of today will immerse themselves in understanding the nature of the liberty they inherited and then set about the task of preserving it for future generations!

Nah. The dopes that live in the U.S. now think freedom means sex with anyone and no cops around.

The concept that they are responsible for their own laws and future is completely gone. They just want someone to clean up after them when they screw the place up.

There have been several articles that warn that the checks that the founders put on government to deal with the “mob” mentality of a democracy are failing. The criticism of democracy was that the mob would simply take from the minority. That is happening in spades today. Simply vote yourself an entitlement at the expense of those greedy “rich” people who aren’t “paying their fair share.” Ironically, Jefferson’s party has fed of this for close to two centuries.

I would say it succeeded. Then morality left the Country, God is being credited less and less, and here we are, with things about to get worse. Until America wakes up and recognizes that from God all blessings flow, we are doomed. (And I’m not talking unitarian universalist nonsense either)

I submit that the political right has done an abysmal job of selling their political philosophy.

Great post.

John Adams wrote in his 1775 Thoughts on Government, "Every government must rest on some principle or passion in the minds of the people."

At our founding the principle was that governments are instituted among men to secure our unalienable, Natural Rights.

Today, the passion of our government is the Utopian notion of "social justice," a concept antithetical to our founding and impossible to square with our beloved Constitution.

Only one of two mutually exclusive philosophies, Natural Rights or Social Justice will prevail.

The cancer started when the Income Tax was passed. When 100% of what you make is subject to the whim of politicians what good is the rest of the constitution? It was amazing it lasted this long after that poisonous amendment.
