AccuWeather predicts this every year.
One of these years they'll be right.

If there are, I don’t want to be hit by oil globs flying at hurricane speed.

Well, the pundits have predicted heavy hurricane activity before, and we’ve wound up with a relatively mild season. Here’s hoping the experts are wrong and it’s quiet this year.

So, basically the same forecast as 2008 and 2009, and every preceding year.

STATE COLLEGE, PA -- AccuWeather.com reports the upcoming hurricane season could be a top ten year, a stark contrast from the relatively calm 2009 season.AccuWeather.com Chief Hurricane Meteorologist Joe Bastardi predicts a total of 16-18 storms this season. To put that in perspective, only eight years in the 160 years of records have had 16 or more storms in a season.
Yikes... Joe Bastardi is good, but I sure hope he's wrong this time...

The oil will greatly diminish hurricanes that pass over it.

The dartboard made out of tea leaves and dead chickens prediction method aside, one thing that may be a cause of concern is the oil slick that’s in the Gulf. Could the dark oil warm that patch of the sea enough to the point that it could strengthen any hurricanes that pass through that patch or would the sea simply upwell by the time that hurricane season comes to fruition?
