Thus driving up the price of marijuana from the cartel which paid the most for the local army unit's loyalty.

He looks disappointed to be the only soldier assigned upwind of the fire.

Nice photo.
Mexican soldier wearing American supplied uniform, American supplied weapon, American supplied helmet, goggles and bulletproof vest and high on Mexican marijuana.
Really helps explain the problems on the border states doesn’t it?

I’m sure there has been more than 46 tons of marijuana smoked at a single ‘Dead show than was burned in the picture.

God knows we tried.

At $200 an ounce that would be around 30 million.

The 70’s in me cries on the inside. Too bad the world turned into humorless criminal enterprise where the gubmint and the cartels split 50/50.

As to the burning of those 46 tons, my money is on old hay and straw representing the larger share of the proportionate mass.

I theenk eet works like thees:

If you pay your bribes, the Mexican police and army burn hay and straw (and help you smuggle the real thing into Norteamerica).

If you DON’T pay your bribes, it goes “Up In Smoke”.
