President Obama told a joke. He’s a father, he has daughters, he’s allowed to joke about the situation. Fathers do it all the time. Sadly, 70% of the readers of the Washington Post’s article on this subject found the joke offensive, which suggests to me that liberals only have a sense of humor when it comes to fantasy, but not when it comes to real life...

It borders on offensive because his daughters are so young. Way to young to date. If they were in their late teens it would have been funny. As it is he was insinuating the Jonas Brothers are pedophiles.

["Comedian"] Sandra Bernhard issues 'gang rape' warning to Sarah Palin

Sandra Bernhard issued a blistering warning to Sarah Palin during a performance of her new one-woman show.

The Republican V.P. nom would be "gang-raped by my big black brothers" if she enters Manhattan, Bernhard said. Palin is said to be making a campaign stop in New York next week.

"[The gang rape comment] is part of a much larger, nuanced, and yes, provocative (that's what I do) piece from my show about racism, freedom, women's rights and the extreme views of Governor Sarah Palin, a woman who doesn't believe that other women should have the right to choose," Bernhard told the Daily News today.

I’m going to have to disagree with you; one of the girls is 12, which is plenty old — especially in this day and age — to be giggling over a cute boy in a band. (I speak from experience, I was a 12-year-old girl once. And I remember my crush that year on Peter Noone of Herman’s Hermits.)

Nothing sexual about it, young girls get crushes all the time; and no reflection on the Jonas Brothers that Sasha and Malia have a crush on them.

And I firmly believe that it is the province of fathers to protect their daughters, not only from others, but from the girls themselves; and if that means wishing Obama could lock them in a tower until they’re 30 or so, well, I’m sure there are other fathers who wish they could do the same.

And Shasha is 8. He included BOTH girls in the joke.

And the joke didn’t have anything to do with the girls having a crush a boy. The joke was that he suspected the boy was interested in his daughters, including the 8 year old. Of course it’s sexual. Would he warn them if he thought they wanted to play jacks with the girls?
