I have always been a fan of Wikipedia. While others question the accuracy of an online encyclopedia where entries are submitted by the public, I believe that the wisdom of the crowd (educated Americans at least) is pretty accurate over time, and certainly more accurate than say the faculty of Yale.
A good friend of mine writes entries for Wikipedia. Today he alerted me to a cover-up of Vera Baker. Who is Ms. Baker? According to the National Enquirer (motto: we got John Edwards, so we are not completely making this stuff up!) Vera Baker is President's mistress, and possibly a space alien.
While Wikipedia was happy to post articles about President Bush's alleged and unproven use of cocaine as a young man, check out this internal debate about whether the President’s current mistress should have a heavily edited entry in Wikipedia or simply be pulled off of the site entirely: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Vera_Baker.

Hmmm . . . .Seems like Wikipedia has a different set of rules for Republican misdeeds of the 1970s, than for the misdeeds of Democrats here in 2010. Back to Encyclopedia Britannica for me. . .

Sure. Let's take a look at your sentence:
"You can’t really mean that Obama is your hero."
As written you stating that I can't mean that Obama is my hero. Since I never said that, the sentence is true on the face of it. But what I think you meant was this:
"You can’t really mean that. Obama is your hero."
Which is equally inaccurate but would indicate that you don't believe that my criticism of Obama is sincere and it would imply that Obama was a hero of mine. Nothing could be further from the truth. If Obama's been dipping his wick away from Michelle then my disapproval is the least of his worries, she'll probably cut his wee-wee off. And Obama isn't any hero of mine. Never has been.

The sentence was short so there was no misunderstanding, and informal writing on forums are the norm.
