A grim report circulating in the Kremlin today written by Russia’s Northern Fleet is reporting that the United States has ordered a complete media blackout over North Korea’s torpedoing of the giant Deepwater Horizon oil platform owned by the World’s largest offshore drilling contractor Transocean that was built and financed by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., that has caused great loss of life, untold billions in economic damage to the South Korean economy, and an environmental catastrophe to the United States.

Are there any popular reasonings for the demise of the platform?

I don't recall any nor have I heard about using a nuclear devise to seal off the leak.

Any theories as to why the Soviets are pushing this hilarious rumor?

The EU online site is virus ridden. My anti-virus picked it up.

There are dozens more entries.

For a variety of reasons this well was sunk in a region with many natural seeps. Even if we shut down the leak at the pipe it will continue to leak elsewhere, as it's always done.

Now, if you use a nuke that will simply remove much of the overburden presently sealing up the porous rocks keeping most of the oil in check.

Then you would have a "radioactive oil spill of historic proportions".

This theory is hogwash in my opinion.. A stretch beyond reason.. The fire started well above the water line, I believe.. High up on the rig. This was a “bomb plant” in my opinion. Someone got BIG BUCKS from the “Al Gore crowd” to do it.

Yesterday it was because Haliburton had employees on the platform. Today, another rumor.

Has anyone speculated on the cause of the explosion?? I'm guessing, at a mile deep, evidence will be hard to come by.

While I don’t subscribe to this, I am ruling nothing out until there is more information.

And I don’t think it was nuclear even if it was not an accident. That is too farfetched and easy to confirm or deny via a thousand different ways.

How did a non-nuclear sub from NK make it all the way here without being detected by our super satellites and those detectors planted in the ocean designed to look for that very thing? Child-In-Chief order them shutdown???

Nuclear devices are thought, by the ininformed, to be magical.

Time to wake up to the real world, where effort and ingenuity are what solve problems.

“Child-In-Chief order them shutdown???”

That’s not implausible to me at all, even if this particular story isn’t true.

Given that the rig had two pontoons and it listed b4 it sank, one should be able to look at the wreckage and see if one of the ‘toons took a torpedo.

The one interview from an employee that was on the rig mentioned a gas pocket working its way out of the unpluggled well and igniting. It would not be such a disaster if the Blow Out Preventer worked - that could be a defect or as someone else put it, a piece of equipment in the way preventing closure. The eleven guys that could shed light on it are beyond questioning.
