A jury in Tennessee today found David Kernell guilty of two of four charges against him. Kernell was found guilty of computer fraud and obstruction of justice. These two charges could carry a combined maximum penalty of up to 25 years in prison and $500,000 in fines.
The jury deadlocked on the charge of identity theft and he was not found guilty on the charge of wire fraud. Prosecutors have reserved the right to hold a new trial for the deadlocked charge of identity theft.
The judge in the case will determine the sentencing. Expect Karnell to get off with a slap on the hand given his fathers deep political connections in Tennessee.

How About It? Huh?
It Ain't Askin' Too Much
Ya Know....
I say ass-bangin’ prison for him.
Now the Dem’s won’t be happy until a Republican politician’s son or daughter is swinging from the gallows.
Anything less than 5 years is a travesty to justice.
He won’t spend a day at Club Fed. You heard it here first. And, yes, it will be a travesty.
He'll date...just won't be "chicks".
You’re not the first nay sayer and you won’t be the last, but there’s hope the judge will do right by the jury’s verdict.
He’s a Vandy grad class of ‘65, a former JAG and he was appointed by GWB.
Sarah Palin was a vice presidential candidate and under Secret Service protection at the time. She wasn’t just Sarah Q. Citizen, and the punk intended her and the presidental campaign harm.
You are right. This guy needs to be made and example of.
His sentence needs to include HARD LABOR and long hours.
A large fine will also need to be placed on him so he needs to be financially penalized.
LOL! Well, let’s just hope he sees some time. But, will the media cover it?
I expect a sentence of 5 yrs but no prison. Just home detention with an ankle monitor and about 500 hrs of community service. And a fine that daddy will pay for him.
After all, he wasn’t doing any harm to the democrats, just Republicans.
It was troubling that they said no to identity theft! If that was not IT then I don’t know what IT is. He called yahoo and said he was someone else to get their password and online information. Are we now saying that act is not identity theft?
I want him doing time for that because I want an example set for that crime, which is pure evil and damages thousands of lives. I want people put away for that and let them think about it for a while - and any wiseguy out there will face real consequences for that crime.
Considering the circumstances, he’ll no doubt get only probation. Now, if this was someone digging into Obamaâs email, he’d be lucky to get off with only life in prison.
Actually, the best sentence to give the kid...is no computer interaction (even for banking or college or anything) for eight years. Call it a probation, and if he fails...send him for three years of prison. I’m pretty sure he’ll violate the deal...but it’s because he’s stupid to start with.
It is hard to fathom someone not being awarded prison time for two felony convictions.
It is hard to fathom someone not being awarded prison time for two felony convictions.
It will be a Travershamockery.
Convicted of felonies... equals no voting right for the little punk a$$ beeotch... that’s going to leave a skid mark.
