I asked my state rep to introduce an ultrasound law over 8 years ago. I still don’t think she has been able to get it passed.
It is good to see it getting to this point. I have believed for a long time that an ultrasound requirement would permanently marginalize pro-abortion groups. It is kind of amazing because as Rhinos always tell us that we need to be more liberal on the issue of abortion it has been on the prolife issue that we have made the most sustained and real progress. I don’t see any other issue where we have succeeded so much and so thoroughly. Energy? Spending? Taxes? On all the issues we have seen a steady push towards the left. We did lose on Health Care but there is no doubt that most of that will be undone and the fact that it was so called “prolife” Democrats that held up the bill for so long shows how much things have changed.
The next key thing we need is a way to get parental rights laws. Not just notifications but rights laws that give parents who have legal custody full rights to choose what medical procedures and what kind of information can be given or presented to their children involving such personal issues. We need for parents to be empowered by law to sue when their kids are encouraged to get abortions or given activist liberal sex ed. I believe parental notification is the most important thing we need to accomplish to stave off not just abortion but the whole radical liberal sexual activist agenda.
The key to us winning is to empower the individuals to make the right choices and to empower them over leftist school bureaucracies who need to be taught to fear repercussions for their activism.
Delicious irony. And a finger in the eye of “scientific” atheism.
