Video: Republican Alabama gubernatorial candidate Tim James (and son of previous Gov. Fob James) vows in a new campaign ad that if he's elected, he'll give the state driver's license exam only in English, as a cost-saving measure. "This is Alabama; we speak English," he says in the ad. "If you want to live here, learn it."

I love it. I am sick of being visually assaulted by english and spanish signs on everything in Lowes.
‘Bout freakin’ time someone stands up and says it. Unfortunately, some tyrant in black robes’ll probably tell him he can’t do that.
I was looking at DVD players a few weeks ago and had to turn one box around several times before I found English writing. It was actually on the side I first looked at but was hidden by so much Spanish.
'This is Alabama; we speak English,' governor candidate says!
Ummmm... that's only because you don't border Mexico ... LOL ...
I was in Baja California last week with my wife’s elderly parents (her sister has a beach house in a little town an hour from Cabo). As we were driving down the road, her mother asked what the sign “Curva Peligrosa” meant. When we said, “Dangerous Curve,” she said, “I don’t know why they can’t just say ‘Dangerous Curve.”
That guy is obviously a racist Nazi white supremecist slave-owning owner of assault machine guns. Xenophobe!

What a novel thought, if you live in a country which speaks English only have the tests in English!!!
God Bless him !!!

In Canada, it's worse. Everything has to be English and French. I don't know if you can even get a job, if you deal with the public, without knowing how to speak both languages. In any case, businesses and government have to (by law) accommodate both languages. It's worse than just looking for the proper "side" of the package to read.
Please spread that message!
I am sick and tired as well...
BTW: I learned English BEFORE I came to the US; I thought, well, gee, it was the right thing to do do in order to, well become an American, be accepted, get absorbed by the community, be able to contribute, be productive, etc....
My roommate in college was a Canadian distance runner. He wasn’t a very good student but he made nothing but A’s in French.
I was so disgusted that I stormed out passing the Customer Service desk and loudly stated, "This is America, speak English!"
No mofo, we speaks ebonics....when we doesn’t speak Spanglish.
Apparently you are an anacronism. It is a damned shame there are not a lot more like you.
Good for you. I am sick of it. KS! Unreal.
You said: I was so disgusted that I stormed out passing the Customer Service desk and loudly stated, “This is America, speak English!”
PLEASE everybody, take note, we HAVE to spread this, I have coped an attitude regarding this for some time, and stores think I am nuts.
And of course, we could get into the Government forms in lots of languages, but that is for another day... like, taking the Citizenship Exam, they talk to you in your native language; is that stupid or what???
It is a REQUIREMENT that to become a Citizen, you must have a certain command of English!!!
Yes, I am royally P-OFF.
It drives me nut. You have to slip the box around and the text or instructions are less detailed because of the second and maybe third language.
I guess he believes in a living Constitution. Last time I check, our Founding Fathers never said anything about an official language. I guess liberals like this guy don’t understand originalism.
