Here’s a link to the story from Soldatna, Sept. 25, 2008:

http://redoubtreporter.blogspot.com/2008/09/sign-of-times-campaign-propaganda.html

From the story:
Several signs promoting Democratic candidates for state and national offices have gone missing this month. Mary Toutonghi, who lives on SoHi Lane in Soldotna, has had problems with her yard signs being knocked over periodically in the two months or so she’s had them out. Then on Sept. 9 she woke up to find a sign for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and one for Democratic U.S. House of Representatives candidate Ethan Berkowitz were gone altogether.

“To me it’s a cowardly act because there’s no discussion or anything, and I see it as an act of vandalism, really,” Toutonghi said.

A Soldotna resident since 1984, Toutonghi has displayed signs for candidates she’s supported for “years and years,” she said. They’ve been knocked down before but never outright stolen.

She related the act to an incident in 2003, when people participating in a peace demonstration at Soldotna Creek Park along the Sterling Highway were doused with water by a man in a truck.

“To me it’s not a democratic form, it is a cowardly form,” she said.

Toutonghi said she reported the theft to Soldotna police, but without any witnesses she doesn’t expect anyone to be held accountable.

“It’s my yard, I put up my signs and they tear them down instead of going the route of putting up their own signs. Or maybe they do have their own signs, but to me it’s a violation of what I choose to display in my yard,” she said.

Toutonghi’s political beliefs are strong enough for her to promote them visually, but she draws the line at interfering in what others believe.

“I do feel they have a right to their own opinions,” she said. “There are times when there are discussions and there is agreement, and if there is serious disagreement I let it go. I feel I don’t have any more right to push on people than they have to push on me.”
END of excerpt from the story.

NO mention whatsoever of having babysat for Obama. Now, do you think that if she did tell this reporter, who works in tiny town, who now has SUCH a scoop, that the reporter would have saved the story for almost FOUR months, waiting for Inauguration Day? Do you think Mary, who bragged about having known Bob Hope,”Dorothy”, and their children wouldn’t have also mentioned to the reporter that not only did her Obama signs get stolen, she used to baby sit for him? She admitted (FOUR months LATER, as her story was evolving) that she knew who he was when she saw his book, in 2004, so in 2008, she OUGHT to have remembered and been eager to tell a reporter that she was his babysitter. Right?

Here’s a link to the first story that I saw about this babysitter, http://www.seattlechatclub.org/museum.html

You have to scroll way down to find the story. However, keep in mind that this story has been “updated” and I don’t have text from the original, nor do I know what the true date of publication was.

Notice that the writer says, “As we were researching the residence of the Capitol Hill apartment that Ann Dunham and her son Barack Obama had lived in 1961 to 1962, (1) - a residence that certainly wasn’t Abraham Lincoln’s log cabin but none the less historical, we were also able to find one of the former residents listed in a directory- Mary Toutonghi. Much to our delight it turned out Mary actually knew Ann Dunham and had baby sat baby Barack for two months giving insight on his first year and what it must have been like for Ann Dunham as a single parent.”

The footnote references their first story, published 1/9/2009, wherein they reported about the city directory and published a photo of the house. So this “researching” of the other residents of the neighborhood would have been taking place at least early in Jan. 2009, if not before. This person also referenced the Jan. 20, 2009 story by the same reporter who wrote about the yard signs. It appears these reporters were in contact with each other. The Alaskan reporter supplied the photo of Mary. The Seattle reporter interviewed Mary more than once, apparently. No timeframe was given for the dates of those interviews, but one might speculate that during the search for other residents of the house in Seattle, they found the story about Mary’s yard signs, which led them to both Mary and a reporter who knew her. Did they also find the Inauguration Day story (which is dated 8 days before the Seattle story) or did they let the Alaskan reporter have the scoop?

Notice that Mary WORKED ON the 2004 campaign and also knew a lot about peace marches staged in 2003. So she’s no ordinary citizen of remote Alaska. She’s very much involved in Democratic politics and activities.

Another interesting quote from the 2009 story: “I just think we’ve been through eight years of hell,” Toutonghi said, referring to the war in Iraq, mounting national debt and the country’s downward spiral into economic recession during President Bush’s administration.

Note that this Mary Toutonghi is not the daughter of Phillipe, she’s his daughter-in-law. Her husband was Joseph Toutonghi, who also has a sister named Mary. Joseph apparently remained in Seattle.

I believe the Mary who lives in Soldatna is the daughter-in-law, not daughter of Philippe. What’s interesting is that Philippe was a professor at Gonzaga, yet when he died, there was no listing in the Social Security death index. So, did he not pay Social Security? Lorice, however, is listed in the index. Yes, very interesting that Anna somehow finds an apartment, post haste, in Seattle and has Egyptian Muslim neighbors, with a Latvian (Russian Empire) babysitter. That is, IF baby Barry actually was in Seattle. Ever.

Yes, quite interesting. So if she didn’t move into that address until Spring 1962, when Mary supposedly babysat for Barry for 2 months, then how is it she’s listed in the 1961 directory? Of course, there’s a report that she first lived in Laurelhurst dorm, but then wouldn’t she be listed in the directory as living there? Not on Capitol Hill? Very quick work finding that apartment.

Thanks, Brown Deer. Interesting that there was a Mass. So were they Catholic? If so, why does a grandson “like” Koranic verses on his facebook page? Are there a lot of Egyptian Catholics? Or Turkish ones?

It’s great to have that P.E. Toutonghi Obit again, I lost it! There’s something strange going on.

Mary the ‘baby-sitter’ was born on 1935/36. She said she had a daughter aged 50 when she was interviewed by WND.

She has to be the Mary who was part of the original family who arrived in 1946 with six children. The elder daughter, also named Mary, (Mary-Agnes) had arrived two years before and married Van Beveren.

The Mary Hurt, shown on the obit, appears to have a birth year of 1942. We have her maiden name. It wasn’t Toutinghi.

Why would the obit exclude the Mary who was part of the family, the ‘baby-sitter’ and substitute it with Mary Hurt?

Don’t take anything to do with that story at face value.

Was it assumed that Mary the babysitter was the Mary who arrived in 1946 at age 10, so the birth date was calculated as 1935?

Mary the babysitter was married to Joseph Toutonghi. She had a different maiden name. I don’t know what it was. Her son states on his website that his mother is Latvian. She looks Latvian, not Egyptian, if you assume that the photo given to the Seattle blog is actually her. She said that she herself was a very young mother when she babysat for Obama (if she really did). Her daughter was born in 1959, so she probably was born in the mid to late 30s. Her husband Joseph was born about 1933, so it’s likely she was close in age to him. She wasn’t mentioned in Philippe’s obit, I believe, because she and Joseph no longer lived together, were probably divorced. I see no evidence that Joseph ever moved to Alaska, and this Mary supposedly moved there in 1977. Some have said Joseph remarried, to a woman name Ruta. However, notice that none of the children-in-law were specified in the obit.

I’m 32 and can remember SSNs on checks for convenience. If you didn’t have it printed on it, you wrote it.

My SSN was also my driver’s license number when I turned 16 before I had it changed.

Hi Fred, very curious where you came up with TOUT (instead of just toot)? is this from other research? or is it just a wild guess? I found this (see below) today and am on the anna toot search kick for a while. So am very interested if there really is a different spelling and where you found that. Thanks.

"a story Barack Obama gave to a newspaper "The Nation" of Niarobi Kenya, on 15 Aug 2004. While visiting there with his family he spoke to John Oywa, a reporter for The Nation, and the result was: "Kenya: Special Report: Sleepy Little Village Where Obama Traces His own Roots". In that article he says his mother was Anna Toot."

There’s nothing I can see in that article that states the information FOR the article came from zero. The sources appear to be family/clan throughout. Are we on the same page?

I am Jack W's contact, and I now can reveal the truth!

Barack Hussein Obama II (or Jr.) is, once and for all, you obstreperous peasant:

Le Dauphin Perdu dela Belle France!

That is correct. Our POTUS is also your King, particularly if you live in what is laughingly called "The Louisiana Purchase!" Donald Trump has promised me the EU475,000 I need to complete my genetic research and as soon as he does, I shall buy every FREEper a piece of cake and publish my results.

Fred, do not lose patience. I have been assured that this year the SCOTUS will rule on exactly WTF is a "Natural Born Citizen," as soon as the Mombasa Chappie can appoint several more members of the Kagan-Soto Sapphic Solon Society to the court.

Also, someone will ask the obvious question, "Daddy, how come the BC the WH released doesn't match anything the HDOH gave Uncle Barry?"

Or, "Where was Barry when he was supposed to be at Columbia?" Or, "Say, whose SS Card is that, anyway?" Ditto, "Draft Card."

But the coolest thing of the waning year 2012 is the remarkably quiet exit of Reggie Love, my favorite gay guy, from his room at the WH to parts unknown, especially since my Kenyan Friend seemed to know a lot about his parts. The way Team Obama finessed the man's disappearance was nothing short of brilliant.

Ah well, "Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense," I always say.

Can’t help but notice how wiki refers to him in the past-tense:

“Reggie Love
Reginald L. Love served as the special assistant and personal aide, commonly referred to as body man for taking care of the president’s needs, to United States President Barack Obama. Wikipedia”

Looks like once it’s over, there’s no future.
