There is a debate when it comes to the future of the Tea Party movement. There are arguments raging over whether the Tea Party matters, will matter in the future, or be a mere footnote in US history. It is our tendency to get caught up in the moments of time. Right now, it seems like the Tea Party movement could be a major player in the policy debate for years to come. For that to happen, several issues will need to be addressed.
What, exactly, is the Tea Party? It started as a simple protest movement when an angry reporter said that the American people should be disgusted over the corporate bailouts and they should fight back with a Tea Party movement. In no time, that became a reality. Its membership, however, is very interesting and raises many questions about unity. Forty percent of those who call themselves Tea Party "members" are also self described Democrats and independents. A loud, if not significant, minority are of the libertarian variety. There are also those who describe themselves as "Truthers" (believe the US was behind September 11th), which seems to be largely ignored by the vast majority in the movement. The single largest group ranges from traditional conservatives to those who call themselves "Constitutionalists."

I would say that the “Tea Party” is nothing more than citizens who understand our nation’s founding and are alarmed by our radical departure from it. They are employing their constitutional right (while they still can) do demonstrate that.
The Tea Party “leaders” are We The People.
The mission is to restore the US Constitution as the active law of the land.
No more. No less.
When you are interested in something you do it only when it is convenient.
When you are committed, you accept only results, not excuses.

Well said!
The Tea Party is not a party but a Caucus..
look for dems to keep marginalizing the tp and for republicans to take it over...rino’s still dont get it...
i thought the tp was grass roots but i have at least 10 requests a day for money from teaparty groups...dont know which ones are real...
The Tea Party Movement is We The People; case closed.
The Eternal America!
The phenomenon is best described as a very rude *awakening*. America is a metaphor for the perfect union that has been neglected or taken for granted and seduced by outside forces - intent on infidelity and destruction.
Most average American adults, absorbed in working and raising children; have finally confronted the reality of having been abused by elected officials and duped by a treasonous press.
THE FUTURE OF THE TEA PARTY
In our current state and with a President pushing this nation towards a socialist wasteland, I can comfortably vote for obstruction.
To vote for a Republican any Republican for Congress in the general election is a vote against Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid as leaders (depending on the House).
At this point, it is unconscionable to vote for a third party or to not vote at all in the current political environment.
With the fast track towards socialism we are moving on today, I can comfortably support obstruction all day long.
(But then Dems will cry obstruction and that doesnt play well with moderates. For example, I believe in todays test cloture vote, all 41 Senate Repubs should stick together. Force a compromise.)
(Had Snowe, Collins and Specter done that on porkulus, we would have gotten a stimulus that actually stimulated something.)
Footnote - Think Perot’s “We The people”
yikes - - that s\b either Perot’s “The Reform Party” or “United We Stand”

Az birther bill
McLain said Obama took too long to show proof of his citizenship. Obamas mother was an American citizen but his father was from Kenya.Arizona Rep. Doris Goodale, R-Kingman, also supported the bill, saying so many hours and so much energy was spent in the past year debating the issue of Obamas birth. This bill is to prevent the angst and frustration with this situation occurring again, Goodale said. This will place Arizona in a solid position of knowing, proving the certification and requirements for the candidacy for our highest office.I have no problem requiring candidates prove they meet the qualifications to run for office. From the top of the ballot to the bottom, Arizona Sen. Ron Gould, R-Lake Havasu City said.
