IIRC Uncle Tom was the guy in the book who refused to hand over the location of escaped slaves to the vicious white plantation master. He was then killed for his brave deed by equally vicious black henchman.

Only a liberal could think that calling you an 'Uncle Tom' was an insult. The guy was a hero, giving his life to get slaves off a plantation.

In Liberal eyes you are the most wicked thing imaginable:- a man who could slot neatly into one of their 'identities' but who nevertheless refuses to define either others or himself in terms of identity politics.

So kudos to you Mr Marcus. We're all proud to know you.

I believe there are plenty of good black folk who would like to attend the Tea Party’s but are genuinely afraid of being labeled an Uncle Tom or threatened by family or friends.

There is a very silent cold war within the black community between middle class conservatives and 3rd generation welfare dependent collectivists.

But what really got my blood boiling was when she asked me the following question with the trademark liberal condescending edge: "Mr. Marcus, don't you think by calling yourself an unhyphenated American, you are encouraging white people to feel comfortable with their racism?"

I can see 2 ways of responding:
(1)"Seriously? Your projecting here aren't you?"
(2) Laugh uproariously and thank her for the chuckle.

The second response is an Alinsky-style tactic. Don't get mad, just ridicule her ignorance.
