Looking to become the next Mr. Olympia or Ms. World? Want to bulk up the physique and get those abs rock hard and defined as a "six pack"? Are you the skinny kid that gets bullied around and need to get buff to protect yourself? Then consider a gym membership--not just the "get a few pounds off after the Holidays" type plan but a real, solid way to get and stay in shape. You can join a local club like Gold's or Bally's and pay fees to belong, or you can go to the local YWCA or YMCA for not a lot of money. Either way, a gym membership can help get your tired, flabby tummy into a lean, mean muscle machine. And, people will definitely take notice.
Gym memberships too often turn out bad...

I like the gym, I thought it was a fairly informative, relatively unbiased article, only sad they kept referencing gym and supplement companies, rather than organizations.
I joined L.A. Fitness, the self serve gym, it’s nice , no one hardly ever gets shot.
I’m an ACE fitness trainer and I train in people’s homes, offices and apartment gyms. Cheaper than a membership at a gym, but same great results. Consider it!
Do you bring your own equipment or what?
I live in the sticks. I don’t need a gym.
I bring some of my own equipment, depending upon whether the client wants to work with me more than one day a week or just one day. If they work with me one day, I give them a routine, go through it with them once, and they will do it by themselves within that week (I am not crazy about that arrangement because I cannot correct errors,etc.). Because the routine changes week-to-week (for progression and to avoid muscle adaption), I won’t meet with a client once a month or bi-weekly. So, if they work with me one day a week, they do need to have some of their own equipment.
Got to the ACE website and you’ll find trainers there who are willing to come to your home.
My clients love it.
Thanks for the reply. I’ll consider that. I used to be a Certified trainer myself, but was unable to find a job in the area I live in and let it lapse. I was just wondering how you worked it out. Good on you, I hope you do well in this economy. Your plan seems innovative enough, I hope it takes you places. Helping others to be healthy is a noble cause. May you be blessed in that effort and have enough to enjoy life’s pursuits.
Got a garage? Then you’ve got a gym.
As for Mr Olympia and the rest, they’re not the ideals of good health they want to portray. Check their diet for the week right before a “competition.” What it lacks in calories and water would make the Auschwitz diet look like dining at the Ritz. And let’s not even get started on the ‘roids...
Things are not doing well now, but I see spurts of activity!
