Yesterday on the Drudge Report, Matt Drudge had posted a link to a Rasmussen Poll showing if a race were held today between Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, and President Barack Obama, it would be a dead heat. Traditionally, Rasmussen tends to be a Republican-leaning poll, but its still interesting nonetheless to see Paul in the same ballpark as an incumbent Obama.
OK, maybe youre thinking hes not an ideal candidate, but he would be much more tolerable than what we got and thats a point Im willing to concede. However, if you look at Ron Pauls voting record, youd see a lot of nay and no votes. And thats pretty much par for the course for Ron Paul in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The problem it took the United States over 200 years to get to the bloated point were at today. Our military presence overseas, the huge bureaucracies, etc. those are all problems. But if youre Ron Paul and youre president, youd want to want to try to solve these problems one week after inauguration and thats not possible, as Glenn Beck explained on his radio show about a year ago.

Complete BS. Rasmussen is objective, Gallup is left-leaning because it polls adults, not likely voters.
How can anybody trust libertarians when their favorite
son loads up legislation that he knows will pass and
gives the pork while giggling I voted against it.?

Ron Paul, while well-intentioned, would see to it that our economy would NEVER recover in any of our lifetimes.
I think the reason “Why Ron Paul Cant Be President of the United States” is ‘cuz the rabid PaulHaters would vote to re-elect Obama in a heartbeat should Paul ever be the GOP nominee. Heck, they have even said so themselves, saying that they would vote for Obama “out of spite” (their words, not mine)!
It just blows my mind that people who call themselves “conservative” woyld harbor such angy, hateful, & even vulgar opinions about the good doctor.
Ron Paul - The porkbarrel skills of Robert Byrd with the foreign policy objectives of Dennis Kucinich.
Let me guess....he was born in Kenya?
Paul is not interested in spending money on foreign affairs. This does not sit well with those on the gravy train who want the USA to provide both the troops and the money. Paul’s non-interventionist foreign policy will invite large scale domestic opposition on a Presidential run. Being for America first is not ‘in’.
>> Ron Paul, while well-intentioned, would see to it that our economy would NEVER recover in any of our lifetimes. <<
I would vote for him over Obama anyday, I have faith that some of Paul’s crazier ideas would be stopped in the house and senate, while most of his saner stuff would get passed.
While true, in the eyes of the left though anything that doesn’t lean their way leans right. Prism vision.
When I saw the Obama/Paul result I thought we’ve already gotten to the ABO (Anybody But Obama) stage of Campaign 2012.
Corollary: don't try to discredit Glenn Beck by using something said by Ron Paul, either.
At the very least we would have a president that actually respects the constitution.
Because if RP won digg.com would implode and entire college dorms would empty out in the streets.
Not anymore, I rckon. Why is it that having an "America First" foreign policy has fallen out of vogue in so-called "conservative" circles?
Ron Paul - The Ernest T Bass of politics
Annoying little pest you can’t get rid of.
Ron Paul completely distorts the views of the Founders in regards to National Security and takes it to a point whereas he is anti-American. With some of the views that Ron Paul spouts about America (that we are to blame in the war on terror, etc ) there is no way that I could ever support him. Ron Paul is a fraud and is ignorant.
Neo-cons are calling the shots [literally].
Ron Paul is hardly America first. Many of his statements are anti-American.
“...crazier ideas...” such as:
—Getting the US out of the UN?;
—Eliminating unconstitutional federal departments?;
—Having a Pres that will actually honor the 10th Amendment, insist that Congress pass a Declaration of War before putting our troops in harm’s way, or promote returning to sound money & the elimination of foreign aid?
—nominating prospective SCOTUS members who are SINCERE about having an Originalist view of the Constitution?
—Being the most PRO-LIFE Pres we’ve ever had, & possibly evem nore so than Ronald Reagan?
Crazy ideas such as those, huh?
