While the recession may not be over yet, at least according to the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), the organization that confirms the beginning and end of such cycles, job openings appear to be picking up. Careerbuilder.com notes a set of companies with about 10,000 positions available, hiring this month.
Admittedly, there are still far more job seekers than there are job openings. However, it should be noted that not just companies, but potential employees frequently wait until the Spring to really start hiring.
Inclement weather and the holidays lead to this sort of trend. As spring warms, the number of positions available begin to warm up as well. Here we see a total of 10,031 positions waiting to be filled.
The following is a list of 17 companies with openings that Careerbuilder noted were aggressively hiring. Some appear to be in the health care industry which is a sector that is growing jobs. While many are localized, many are also nationwide.

Sounds good, thank you for posting.
4529 of those jobs are Insurance sales jobs that are almost certainly commission only.
Another 500+ are with Administaff which I’m guessing is a staffing organization and probably suspect. As staffing organizations are famous for running ads for jobs they don’t have just to have a contractor pool to pull from when they do get a job order.

Many big companies do this. If the posting is related to a govt contract it almost certainly does not exist until the contract is awarded.
4,000+ insurance salesman slots ... yeah, what a recovery.
Had a difficult time finding any jobs on that list where something of value is actually produced.
...Sad
Alpine Access is essentially teleworker. It’s the Administaff of telemarketing, messaging services, and low level phone based tech support.
Pretty sad looking list.
save.
I agree. But two years from now it’ll probably look like the good old days.
ping
I am a the guy who has an interview tomorrow with one of those insurance companies (Hogan agency)
Been out of work for a while and the wife his recovering from breast cancer.
Alot of the list is BS
Sapphire Technologies is a headhunter. They submit your resume to the client with no guarantee you will be chosen. That same job could be on Monster. If Monster has 4000k IT jobs listed so does Sapphire.
The insurance jobs may be all commission
Hope you get the job! Let us know!
Good luck on your interview. Be sure and take a stamped “Thank You” note with you, address it to whomever you talk to at the interview, write something pertinent after and mail it on the way home. That way your name and resume will go to the top of the pile again in a few days. It’s a trick I used to teach as a career counselor.
yeah I saw "work at home" and thought "scam". But they have an A rating from the better business bureau. It's just call center work. Probably not much more than minimum wage.
On the bright side.
Dad at 79 started looking for a job a week ago and is now working as a greeter for Wal-Mart. Minimum wage, but it’s something.
Microsoft has a few thoasand job openings.
It’s outsourcing to women working at home and rural areas. Better than the work going to India and pays more than the minimum wage (typically $8-12 an hour). But you are only paid for time on call, no breaks, no overtime, no waiting for work.

Yes, the trends for tomorrow. You get what you sell.
