The part about an FBI agent doesn't make sense - are they guarding the gates at AF Bases now? I could see a domestic related dispute at the camp ground, MPs shutting down gates to prevent the guy from leaving and the guy going after one of the MPs or pay cops (perhaps psychotic or under the influence some how) - but an FBI agent?
Good point. Moreover, an off duty FBI Agent? Who just happened to be at the right place at the right time? On a large installation like MacDill? Uh Huh.

5/19/2010 - MACDILL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (AFNS) MacDill Air Force Base security forces were alerted to an alleged altercation at approximately 6 p.m. May 19 at the base family camp.
Security forces members responded to the situation, and one of the individuals involved in the altercation fled from the scene on his motorcycle at high speeds.
Security forces Airmen attempted to stop the individual; however, he evaded pursuit and proceeded to one of the base gates. At the gate, he was engaged by law enforcement officials and was shot. Medical crews and investigators responded. No other individuals were injured. The identity of the suspect has not be released.
At this time, there is no indication this act was linked to any sort of terrorist activity.
Our security forces personnel acted promptly to safeguard the base and its personnel, said Col. Larry Martin, the 6th Air Mobility Wing commander. We appreciate the quick and professional cooperation from local law enforcement and fire responders. The incident is under investigation and as more information is available, it will be released.
He charged from some distance if the agent had time to draw and shoot accurately. Exsoldier can verify the training for that scenario.
The writing is way off so that may be a part of what smells here, but I can NOT see how or why this man would draw a knife at range.
This truly smells.
