Ron Paul: Obama Not A Socialist
NoLibUrls.com ^

Posted on 04/11/2010 5:31:49 AM PDT by jentilla

“The question has been raised about whether or not our president is a socialist,” Paul said. “I am sure there are some people here who believe it. But in the technical sense, in the economic definition of a what a socialist is, no, he’s not a socialist.”

“He’s a corporatist,” Paul continued. “And unfortunately we have corporatists inside the Republican party and that means you take care of corporations and corporations take over and run the country.”

Paul said examples of President Obama’s “corporatism” were evident in the heath care reform bill he signed into law last month. He said the mandate in the bill put the power over health care in the hands of corporations rather than private citizens. But he said the bill wasn’t the only place where corporatism is creeping into Washington.

“We see it in the financial institutions, we see it in the military-industrial complex,” he said. “And now we see it in the medical-industrial complex.”

It’s a distinction without a difference. The private insurers will soon be pushed out of health care and everyone will end up in the “single-payer” (socialist) system. In full-fledge corporate states like Italy, everyone is subordinate to the state; ordinary people are peasants with no rights, just as under Communism or absolute monarchy. The only economic and political system which has ever been really different was the constitutional limited govt. and free market system originated in Britain and brought to its peak in the U.S. Now that’s gone, for all practical purposes. Hardly anyone, including most Republicans, likes to admit that most of the what the govt. now does is illegal under the Constitution.

" I think of Obama as either a fascist (merger of state and corporation)..."

Yes, I would term it:

"America Tomorrow;
Mussolini's Italy today, had Hitler not existed."

I think Ron Paul has not kept up with who raised and mentored
Obambie through his entire life, starting with Obama’s father.

I agree that Obama is a Marxist/Communist, and I like Savage’s
term for Obots...”Red diaper doper babies”, but I add “neo-Marxist on the end.
Obozo is nothing but a puppet, and not all that smart, in my opinion.
Corporate life is foreign to him, but it will be used by his masters as just another means to the final goal of destroying America, as it is.

Well, I hold that Obama is a Fascist because he is too cowardly to openly embrace socialism (it would mean he would becomre personally responsible for the consequences). This does NOT mean he is a Nazi. He is along the lines of Benito Mussolini and Juan Peron. That said, what Rep. Paul is saying is technically correct, but it is also fundamentally subversive to any clear understanding of the current president’s threat level. It is no help to simply dismiss the charge of socialism out of hand because Fascism can be just socialism trying the waters. Anyone who embraces Fascism need only feel confident from the experience to move to the harder drug.

So while I am not prepared to call a medical doctor a moron (even Howard Dean), I am willing to suggest that Rep. Paul sadly misjudges the danger that President Obama poses and is not a dependable leader.

Rep. Paul lacks wisdom, which is essential in a leader.

You've nailed it...unfortunately.

With comments like “bring it on” and “he’ll tear him up” from BO, I would tend to agree that he is indeed “pushing for a bloody one against the people”.

I think he’s a Marxist and has every intention of causing such a stir in this country that he’ll rationalize “Martial Law” come November elections.

I think Paul and all of us are playing with words. Obama is a big government, anti-freedom, tyrant. It doesn’t really matter what flavor of tyrant he is

Probably the most accurate statement on here.

Of course, most of the Ron Paul critics are politically closer to Obama than they will admit....Obama is Statist Liberal Globalist....what most of his critics support.

I do not agree that Obama is a corporatist....he is more of a Socialist. But, I do get a kick out of his critics....because the real reason they do not like Ron Paul is because they support Statist Globalist things like the WTO, UN, and other international cabals

Obeyme and Paul have one thing in common. They both want to destroy America’s ability to defend itself.

He’s a fascist. Everywhere fascism held sway (Germany, Israel, Spain, for example) those governments were run by an oligarchy staffed by a bloated bureaucracy. That is exactly where ObaMao is coming from. He is a fascist, pure and simple.

I think the best term to describe 0bama would be a ‘syndicalist’, which is a very close relative of fascism.
0bama is not a socialist by a strict definition, because he does not belie e in equal distribution, instead he picks winners and losers that favors his own political coalition. He also has not taken over entire sectors and dissolved them, he has taken over entire sectors by merging unions and corporations with the government until they are all one and the same. This fits the description of a syndicalist, fascist, or corporatist, not a socialist. Socialists are actually somewhat less malignant than what 0bama is.

Corporatism is a progressive form of socialism, one that relies on cooptation rather than outright nationalization. In a corporatist system, the state makes all important decisions. Nominally private entities are allowed a seat at the table, but only so long as they toe the line.

I read Ron Paul’s statement and chuckled to myself. By calling Obama a corporatist he called Obama a fascist without using the word. I think many on this thread are overreacting to a sort of clever insult to Obama by Paul.

That said, I think Obama intends on the globalist socialist vision. My bet is he ends up a fascist by accident when he can’t pull off the whole “I rule the world through socialist organizations thing” . . .

Ron paul gets way too much bashing on this site.

You guys need to listen to Gerald Celente’s youtube channel and he talks about this all the time of what obama is doing.

Ron paul is right on this only that obama has communism as his ultimate goal and is using the merger of state and corporate powers to get there.

I’m of the school of thought that says it’s not worth our time engaging in a debate over semantics and definitions.

While we’re arguing over whether the thief had a rifle or a shotgun, he’s getting away.

Focus on the impact of his act and how it’s affecting our society and let the librarians and school marms worry about what to call it.
