VANITY: I HATE FREE Roaming CATS
SandRat

Posted on 04/10/2010 3:50:39 PM PDT by SandRat

I've used commercial cat repellent, cayenne pepper, and now just put out an electronic device that's supposed to detect motion and emit an ultrasonic sound to repel them.

I'm furious, I spend 2 wasted hours every Saturday to just clean up the cat scat in my front yard.

Any suggestions out in Freeperland for chasing away the cats without hurting them that I haven't already thought of.

Check out sportsman’s guide.com. They have live traps cheap.
Or a Gammo airgun and you can leave your card at Thai

Just a warning; I’ve also caught skunks which is no fun. If you use the traps be prepared for that.

100 X 150 and if I see signs that they buried the scat yes I loosen the dirt to “dig” it up.

“Either you have a very large front yard or there are hundreds of free roaming cats in your neighborhood if it takes you two hours!”

Cat herding is a popular thing these days.

Oh, don’t get me started about that one. There must be a lot of deaf dog owners in the world that can’t hear their own dogs barking and barking and barking at 3 AM etc.

A “Have A Heart” trap out of sight of your neighbors view with a can of cat food in the end. Trap the cat, throw a blanket over the trap and cat, drive a long enough distance away from your home and let the cat out. They work around here for opossums, racoons and various rats, etc.

Unfortunately they don’t make one large enough for our beloved POTUS/TOTUS.

Aside from the nightly orgies on my roof, these cats are after my birds. I saw one enter an open door once. We had left it open while helping my inlaws to their car. We were on our way out to dinner and had I not seen it it would have been in the house with the birds, none of which are in cages. While I didn’t hurt him, I convinced that cat it didn’t want to do that again.

If they keep returning to the same spot...mouse traps. Scares the crap out of.....oh wait...that defeats the purpose doesn’t it? Seriously, it worked for us.

I have heard recently on very good authority that it certainly works like magic on barking dogs.

I just got one and there's been a huge improvement. She's starting to make the connection between "bark" and "ears hurt".

Here's a shot of one of the cats in whose yard I lived. I tried not to leave any food around - especially at night.

Life was simpler then.

I would but I live in the City. Thinking of planting a mini IED made just for cats and detonated by motion.

We don’t have any pet birds but we love to feed the birds.

Was horrified that one day one was busy eating and a falcon swooped down and snatched it, left feathers EVERYWHERE.

Guilt...*sigh*

Mmmmmmmm, BBQ drumsticks .......
I knew a farmer who succeeded in breeding three-legged chickens. He thought he would make a fortune with KFC.
