Can you spell RINO?

Sure. C O B U R N.

Look under RINO in the dictionary and you’ll find Coburn’s photo.

The RINOs are more afraid of the Tea Party than of the Democrat Party.

Sad day for Conservatives in the Republican Party.

I’m sure that in some alternate reality she might be. Not in this one.

I guess by nice Coburn means Pelosi knows how to use her company manners and not spit or scratch in public. And smiling for the camera while advocating the murder of babies in the womb, yeah thats real nice too.

They have something on him. When does his self-imposed term limit reach its limit?

We then have no choice but to put the Coburn critter on the “toast” list.

If he got anywhere near that sub-slime b*****, I no longer consider him human.

Considering that Pelosi has spent three years attempting to do to my country what Hitler failed to do, I don’t care if she’s nice to her dog (if any dog would have her). She is not a good person. Her goals are evil, and her methods are evil. Socialism must be stopped, and she’s the leader of the drive toward socialism.

Nice of you to make sure this is out of context in what Dr. Tom was saying.

It was so earth shattering our local media didn’t even cover the event.

Anyone who cannot take what some Fox News people say and dispute it are not thinking. Dr. Coburn has NEVER been about personally attacking anyone. You go after someone’s agenda not after the person themselves. What a novel idea — have the debate on issues not personalities. He is also a stickler for wshat the law says not what some people want it to say.

Paul Ryan and Tom Coburn probably know the current Obamacare law better then anyone else in America because they have read it.

What’s your beef with Coburn — he doesn’t want to trash someone personally and he believes that you should stay informed from a bunch of sources instead of just Fox News?

Shame on Dr. Coburn for wanting us top think!

I just listened to Dr. Coburn’s full comments and he said that he is 180 degrees opposed to Nancy Pelosi but she is a nice lady. That means personally but he is 180 degrees opposed to her agenda.

This was all taken out of context including Fox News comment which he explained and how they had gotten it wrong but he did go on to explain the intent of IRS which he does not agree with.

Shame on Dr. Coburn for wanting people to think instead of be lemmings to Fox News. That is what I figured his take was and you put up headlines and excerpt to make him look bad. WHY?

After watching the full video, this is my last comment on the subject because nothing can be done when someone uses excerpts to further their own agenda for whatever reason.

Tom Coburn Knocks Fox News, Says Nancy Pelosi is a “Nice Person”

Sen. Tom Coburn, a staunch conservative from Oklahoma, is doing what seems almost unthinkable in this polarized political climate: Defending his Democratic colleagues from critics at Fox News.

At a town hall meeting, Coburn suggested that a woman who said “they can put us in prison” for not obtaining health insurance under the health care reform bill is misinformed.

“The intention is not to put anybody in jail,” he said. “That makes for good TV news on Fox but that isn’t the intention.”

He also defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the architect of the House version of the health care legislation that he fiercely opposed.

“I’m 180 degrees in opposition to the speaker — she’s a nice lady,” he said. The crowd could be heard responding unfavorably to his characterization.

“Come on now, she is a nice — how many of you all have met her?” continued Coburn. “She’s a nice person. She’s a nice person.”

“Just because somebody disagrees with you doesn’t mean they’re not a good person,” he added. He then discussed his own experience of being vilified before asking the crowd not to “catch yourself being biased by Fox News that somebody’s no good.”

“The people in Washington are good,” he said. “They just don’t know what they don’t know.”

Coburn’s comments were recorded by radio station KGOU and reported by Capitol News Connection, where audio clips are posted.

The senator urged his audience to “stay informed on the issues” and not “just watch Fox News or CNN — watch ‘em both.” He said he reads the New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal every day to “get a perspective” and “know what other people’s thoughts are — not just what I hear through a pipe channel.”

“I do a lot of reading every day, and I’m disturbed that we get things like what this lady said and what others have said on other issues, that are so disconnected to what I know to be the facts,” he said. “And that comes from somebody that has an agenda that’s other than the best interests of our country.”

It’s rare (and perhaps something of a risk) for a Republican lawmaker to criticize Fox News, whose hosts are generally supportive of the GOP agenda and can be a powerful force with grassroots Republicans. Coburn’s comments cut against the suggestion by some Democrats that Republican lawmakers have been inflaming sentiment against them — and could be putting them at risk of violence.

Coburn has been in the news recently for blocking a stopgap bill to provide jobless benefits because it is not paid for; he also participated in the flood of amendments to the health care reconciliation bill designed to slow passage by offering an amendment mandating no Viagra for sex offenders.

But Coburn, a doctor, was also an active participant at the bipartisan health care summit, where he addressed cost containment and made what President Obama called “some powerful points.”

I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys here.

Tom Coburn has been listed as the 4th most conservative member of the Senate, not far behind James Inhoffe who is the 1st.

Obviously, I'm not personally convinced that Nancy Pelosi has the interests of the people at heart; however, I don't think that we should ostracize the man who was arguably the single most ardent opponent of Obamacare in the Senate.

Coburn is almost certainly not some closet progressive liberal. He's been trying everything that he can to reduce government spending, and socialist style politics. As an Oklahoman, I will be voting for Tom Coburn in November, because he represents me well and he's done everything that I elected him to do.

You would all do well to look at his voting record before calling him out on something as ridiculous as personal chivalry.
