Unemployment Doublespeak in the Liberal Media

The liberal news media has been hard at work trying to take the edge off of a very bleak unemployment picture. With each passing month they attempt to put a positive spin on the news in an effort to convince people that things are not so bad. Tell that to the millions of long term unemployed in this country who have no prospects of getting a job anytime soon. The media bias in reporting the unemployment numbers is shameless but not unexpected.

Let’s look at some facts to put the whole thing in perspective. The official unemployment rate stands at 9.7% which is one of the highest readings we’ve seen in the last 50 years. The ‘U6’ number, commonly referred to as ‘the underemployment rate’ which includes people who have given up looking for work as well as those working part-time but seeking full-time employment is a staggering 16.9%....

With the MSM, or “Lame Stream Media”, as Sarah Palin once said, the situation changes based on who the president is and which party he belongs to.

Since Obama is a good liberal, and the media are liberal, they stress talking points such as how Obama inherited a mess from Bush. They talk about how Porkulus has saved so many jobs, and that things would have been much worse without Porkulus and the “enlightened” policies of this administration.

When Bush was president, the media focused on the raw numbers if they made the case that the administration and its policies were failing. But in Obama’s case, they don’t want to talk about raw unemployment numbers, because they want to talk about how things would have been much worse if not for Obama being there.

I know the liberal logic is strange sometimes, but that is what the MSM is feeding us.

When Bush was president, unemployment was 4.6%, and the media lamented the “jobless recovery”. The Democrats came to power, unemployment started going up, and now it has more than doubled, and the media either A) Says that we’ve turned the corner or B) Blames Bush.

The MSM is no longer an ordinary spin machine. It is a very powerful centrifuge.

During the remainder of the Obama administration, unemployment will be regarded not as due to poor fiscal policy (as it was during Bush), but because of flaws in capitalism requiring greater governmental control.

It’s amazing how holding steady at 9.7% has become good news.

9.7% is Obama math, it's several percentage points than the official number. Sort of like $980 billion in the health care numbers, no one in the Washington 'rat ranks wants to say $1 trillion.

Yup, if it were McCain in office, everyday would be a doomsday job report.
