Here's the latest addition to my collection, an Astra Model 3000 manufactured in 1951. The Astra 3000 was an updated version of the Model 300, with a grip that swelled near the bottom, a pushbutton magazine release on the lower left grip, and a loaded chamber indicator. It was made in .32 ACP and .380 ACP. Production was discontinued in 1956. This particular example is a .32 made for the Spanish police.
Reminds me of my beloved .32 Savage. Hope it shoots as straight!
That’s one you don’t see everyday. Europe produced some funky semi-autos in the first half of the 20th.
Very nice gun!
I’m not a gun nut, but is this a rim fire?
No, it's chambered for the centerfire .32 ACP cartridge.
Right in the Noodles. I love it. Thanks
I am purchasing my first gun on Monday!!!!!!!!! I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!
I have been talking to the guys at the gun shop & they were so incredibly helpful.
It’s a big step because I come from a home where guns are not appreciated & a husband who is not particularly happy about guns— although I believe that he will come around.
Sorry, I just had to tell someone. They are holding my gun for me until Monday.I am nervous & excited.
What did you get a pink 38 revolver.
Congratulations! And remember...practice, practice, practice!
Great that you are exercising your Second Amendment rights. Make sure that you know the rules of gun safety.
RULE I: ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED
RULE II: NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO DESTROY
RULE III: KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET
RULE IV: BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET
It might be a good idea to take a concealed carry class.
Make sure that the gun store people show you how to disassemble and clean the weapon and get at least one box of ammo.
Finding the gun you like is a lot like kissing. That is, just kissing, or just holding an unloaded gun in your hand for a few minutes, and you can probably tell if you like it, or them.
Find a range and spend a few hours getting to know your handgun. Wear hearing protection. Start with targets less than 10 feet away.
No- laughing! I am getting a beautiful silver w/ a black rubber handgrip 38 special- 642 airweight. I am trying to get into a police gun safety class. I have heard they are excellent!
When I held it it felt right & cozy in my hand. I think the kissing analogy is perfect!!!!
GL,
I hope I was not rude & horned in on your post. I was so excited that I did not even think.
My apologies to you & your cool post!!!
I once had a fair collection of Astra 400 and 600 pistols. For some reason their unusual look really appealed to me. An early 400 may have been the most finely finished pistol I have ever owned.
They tended to be really accurate as the barrel was fixed to the frame. Also the high quality of manufacture didn’t hurt.
I bought my first Astra 600 complete with a holster and spare mag via mail order when I was just a kid. I think the price was $24 but can’t recall for sure.
I still love those old guns and wish I had not gotten in such a financial condition in grad school to where I had to sell them.
By fixed to the frame, I don’t mean permanently fixed. It was attached with lugs and didn’t move when the slide recoiled back.
Actually one of the few successful blow back designs for the more powerful cartridges.
