How about a Dead-Ass tax on talentless, abysmally unproductive, hideously overpaid, academics.

I’m with him. Let’s implement a series of high tariffs (consumption tax on those purchasing imported goods). Let’s get rid of all other taxes.

We’d be back where we were through most of the 1800’s . . .

Free.

Most of the Cash 4 Clunkers money went for cars that hardly of the Prius variety.

Does this mean they’d pay you to buy something nice, then turn around and FINE for for that..?

1. Pay us to buy cars
2. Fine us for buying certain types of stuff
3. Legally require us to buy stuff that previously we (usually) chose to buy

THIS IS GETTING COMPLICATED.

I’m sure that taxing the guy who buys a yacht and has a net worth of $25 million (the purchase of which hardly makes a dent in his “savings rate” will encourage the peons to save more... huh? What a moron. Might as well put a high tax on food to encourage the postal worker to eat less and save more.

The biggest spender of all is the government. How about placing a corporate tax of 35% on every dollar they spend and giving that money back to the taxpayers?

Okay. So Professor Frank thinks we have too much consumption and not enough savings. And wants to use tax policy to change the mix.

All taxes siphon capital from the free market. Frank is arguing that Obama should now use a huge pump since the siphon is going fact enough.

I propose that congressmen pay 2% more than the highest income tax rate they levy on citizens.
