VIDEO: El Paso, TX Street Gang May Be Behind Assassination Of U.S. Consulate Workers

The DEA believes that Barrio Azteca, an El Paso, TX-based street gang with ties to the Juarez drug cartel, has information on the brazen assassination of U.S. consulate workers earlier this month, and the agency has stepped up pressure on its members with a series of raids as reported by Daniel Borunda for the El Paso Times:

A total of 54 members and associates of the Barrio Azteca gang have been arrested as part of Operation Knock Down, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration said Monday. The DEA-led crackdown is one of the largest law enforcement efforts ever in El Paso, with more than 200 officers from 21 different agencies. The operation was launched last Thursday to pressure members of the Barrio Azteca gang for information on the deaths of three people linked to the U.S. Consulate in Juárez. Mexican authorities had said the murders could have been the work of the Aztecas gang, which works as muscle for the Juárez drug cartel. In the U.S., the gang is known as the Barrio Azteca.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton "is leading a high-level delegation to Mexico to discuss the fight on drugs" as reported by BBC News:

Officials will discuss the Merida initiative, a $1.6bn US programme of aid aimed at fighting the drug cartels. The visit comes a year after President Barack Obama promised to be a "full partner" with Mexico in fighting drugs. Defence Secretary Robert Gates, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano are part of the US delegation.

Welcome to Mexico ....They own DeQueen, Ark. Im in rural OK where Mexican drug gangs thrive. A friend told me they have them in Utah too...they are dragging this country down to their level and our government is helping them...guess you all saw the DC illegal immigration rally the Dems organized in a hurry to cover the anti healthcare protests...those were not American flags they carried. These are not people who would be paying taxes if granted citizenship. most would fall below the tax paying level if they worked at all.

The greatest threat to this country is illegal immigration and the crime wave that follows. The US Dept. of Justice agrees. A Chicano friend of mine reiterated that Mexicans do not and will not pay taxes. The real threat is the crime wave.

Why did it take killings of American consulate workers before law enforcement started arresting these criminals?

A very honest video! Very sad and hugely significant that this truth had to come from freaking Al Jazeera, which apparently is more honest about this than OUR OWN MEDIA.

I agree. I hesitated before even posting the video because it came from Al Jazeera but, as you aptly point out, it is covering the horrific violence by the drug cartels much better than our own media.

Maybe because the husband of the slain consulate worker worked in the El Paso County jail. He might well have been the intended target all along. Any way, law enforcement takes more seriously the killing of one of their own. Of course if they had applied this much pressure all along Barrio Azteca might not have existed in El Paso.

Another ironic aspect of the video: When it suited the whim of Mexy drug cartels to shut down the border from the southern side, the task was accomplished with breath-taking speed; they simply drove tractor-trailors across the highway, stopped them, and began shooting folks who tried to circumvent the barrier.

But for the US government, who must fill welfare rolls of the left and the assembly lines of the right (while ignorning US workers), well the task IS ALL VERY COMPLEX, NOW ISN’T IT.

Half-illiterate Mexy pistoleros with bad hair-cuts can do easily what all our King’s horses and men claim they are puzzled by.

One side has the means and not the will, while the other has DOES have that will.

Next week, Michelle Obama is going to Mexico also. It’s hard to imagine, but these two could screw things up with Mexico even more than they are now.
