The Real Tea Party Story: Community Builders vs. Community Organizers
The American Thinker ^ | March 14, 2010 | Kyle-Anne Shiver

In less than a year, the MSM has gone from ignoring Tea Parties to mocking and insulting their participants to grudging coverage with ridiculing overtones. Finally it has arrived at giving wide attention to the movement, albeit grudgingly and ungraciously. A once-highly esteemed fourth estate, they have become talking-head dilettantes on a mission to save the disgruntled masses from democracy itself.

David Brooks, token toy conservative at the NYT, wrote his explanation for the Tea Parties without ever mentioning them by name, even. He wrote a whole diatribe on the meaning of it all. It's a knee-jerk reaction by us commoners, you see, against the "educated class." It has nothing to do with real issues, don't you know. This whole wave of discontent is simply a revolt by the common man against his intellectual betters.

What a bunch of myopic poppycock.

Tea parties are the Silent Majority awakening.

We are the guys the bully’s have picked on for years finaly getting a bellyfull and standing up to them.

We are the Americans who have built this country, paid its bills, and sat back and watched while liberals screwed it up by spending us into debt. Now we have had enough.

This is not rocket science. It's just ordinary logic and a smidgen of research.

Which is quite true, in fact it was true before the election and some of us with ordinary logic and possessed of research provided openly on the Internet and served up to us by Free Republic, warned of the danger presented by Obama. We did not need a year of incumbency to predict what many now see:

Now that we've had a year of a proud Alinskyite community organizer as president, it's not at all hard to see that Obama is much, much closer to being a "fascistic demagogue" than he is to being the grand conciliator for whom his befuddled followers fell into willing sway.

That the danger of Obama as demagogue, and up Manchurian demagogue that, was apparent to ordinary bloggers like us begs the question why the mainstream media did not explore the issue before the election and why for the most part it has refrained from exploring the issue until now?

That the mainstream media has worn blinders is a matter beyond debate. Yet, when one sees exemplars of the mainstream media opining on television about the state of the media today, it is apparent that not one of them takes seriously the idea that the mania has defaulted in its role as journalists to expose all dark corners to light. Even when these people admit to a pro-Obama bias, they recite the fact with no sense of guilt or shame and no sense whatever that they made America vulnerable to a demagogue.

One is reminded of the exploitation by the Democrat party of the well considered remark by Rush Limbaugh to the effect that he hoped that Obama would "fail." They attempted to render Limbaugh into someone unpatriotic. Others resorted to the ultimate refuge of leftist scoundrels: the race card. Chris Matthews, indeed, the whole of MSNBC is guilty of this demagoguery daily.

I believe it is the race card that enabled, indeed mandated, the media to default its duty in questioning Obama's background. In a normal election such a man would be exposed as the leftist he is. We saw that happen to McGovern, Dukakis, Kerry and others. But it did not happen to Obama. Obama is even further left than the individuals named yet he was immune. I attribute the difference to Obama's race. Race is the original sin of America and liberals are chronically excoriating us and demanding that we atone for it. The media is eternally seeking to replay its role in enlisting America to overcome its original sin and support civil rights movement.

Republicans were handcuffed and hobbled by this tactic in the last election and the Democrats could not have asked for a more obedient candidate than John McCain who reinforced this tacit censorship at every turn. McCain amplified it and applied it to himself even forbidding references to Obama's middle name and to his associations with terrorists and many, many radicals. McCain himself encouraged the Democrats and the media to conflate criticism with racism.

The point of this article is that America has awakened to the realities that were obscured during the election process. As Obama sinks in the polls, the race card will no longer trump. A barometer for this will be the degree of respectability gained by movements to compel presidential candidates to prove their qualification for office. Please note, this observation does not embrace demanding that Obama produce proof of his natural born citizenship status during his tenure in office, but is only prospective in nature. So profound is the power of the race card that this constitutional requirement was effectively waived for Obama.

As I have so often opined on these threads, all politics in America is not local, all politics ultimately is racial and will remain so until the race card no longer takes the pot.
