Glenn Beck was wrong, its as simple as that. He wasn't wrong in interviewing Eric Massa because it was an interview that he had to take once it became available. The Massa story was dominating the headlines and he had to jump on it. No, where Glenn Beck was wrong was apologizing for wasting our time at the end of the interview. This interview was no waste of time because in the end it destroyed the myth that Eric Massa's claims had any viability.
It was classic train-wreck theater. You know that a train is going to end up derailed and on its side, and even feel uncomfortable waiting for it to happen, but you are powerless to stop the carnage. Through the whole experience you are just wondering if the train will wreck itself or will someone push it over.
In this case it was Massa who self-derailed.

Glenn Beck did the right thing by putting Massa on. It was a great opportunity — a scoop. And no, there was nothing “explosive” to see. Massa was spinning more than Friut of the Loom on back order. It did surprise me that Beck didn’t absolutely GO OFF like he has on his radio show in the past. And he had reason to on several ocassions. But, I think he was wise in not doing so, because he allowed Massa enough rope to hang himself OR his enemies. He seems to have hung himself, but Rahm and others slipped the noose.
As to Massa — he didn’t support ObamaCare for 2 reasons — 1) he is from a Conservative district in NY State and his constituency overwhelmingly opposes it, and (2) the price Pelosi & Obama were willing to pay wasn’t hi enough. And, because Massa was fairly new to Congress, he didn’t have the knowledge of where the bodies are buried or whose skeletons were in what closet, like, say, a Charlie Rangel. But he WAS there long enough for those types to dig up all kinds of goodies on him. And they did.
You got that right, Beck was groping for a coherent thought that evaded him at every turn... he couldn’t keep his own thoughts straight. In my opinion, he is no serious interviewer; he grew up a comedy gag artist and now he’s trying to be serious, but doesn’t have the right mix of grey matter to pull it off. I feel just a little embarrassed. To have this guy, Massa, for a whole hour long show and not be grilling him like a T-boane steak is outrageous. Beck did not do his home work, and he flunked.
So true.
I didn't see it, but just peripherally reading about his rants, that was my first impression.
Just because they are 'elected officials' does not make them clinically sane. In fact, IMHO, the onus is on people who decide to do what is necessary to get elected today, is to prove they are sane. I would not assume any of them are.
I always assume they are either hustlers looking for a fast buck or somewhat off kilter mentally to even want those jobs.
I suppose that there are many who do feel a need for service in that cesspool of corruption called Washington, but I am sure they are in the distinct minority.
Massa then became a professional staff member on the House Armed Services Committee.
God help us!
Beck should have come out and said it was obvious that Massa was buggering out (tee! hee!) as fast as he could before the ethics investigation got underway and started revealing the juicy stuff.
Yes, I think the real issue is that this guy, Massa, was in Congress! How could he have been elected in the first place? There is such nationwide disgust for all politicians right now (the perps being DemoRATS, of course) and Massa certainly did nothing today to change that perception.
Beck was at a loss for words because of the ignorance and spin on display by this clearly unstable man. Yes, he gambled and lost. It was a waste of time! Michelle Malkin tried to warn Glenn about the stupidity of doing a full hour on the guy( to which he replied:”I don’t understand you people:) WTH?
When I heard Rush this morning, I knew that Beck would fail. Rush is always right(99.9%, anyway).
I agree. I didn’t think Beck asked the right questions. Actually, he didn’t ask hardly any questions at all about Massa’s allegations except about Emanuel.
Beck could have asked a lot more pointed questions and did not.
the guy he replaced - Randy Kuhl was a dottering fool, and an equal embarassment to us living here in western NY
Beck was set up by Massa. Going in to the interview, I think Massa made Beck think he was going to be a whistle blower. Beck thought he was going to get a soul-baring inside look from a whistle blower on the administration and on government corruption.
Beck was left speechless and without a back up plan when Massa blind-sided him with his cover-up act.
Beck expected Massa to say he was forced out. Massa made it sound like resigning was completely his own idea, as if from saintly lofty ideals of honor.
Beck expected Massa to rat out Emanuel for threatening him. Massa down played the entire thing.
Beck expected Massa to reveal specific instances of government corruption - bribes, threats, arm twisting, vote buying from Congressional leaders. Massa never did more than hint at it.
Massa played Beck perfectly. He used the interview as a personal PR opportunity and gave Beck nothing that he was looking for.
I learned one thing. Massa is a very smarmy, self-centered egotistical, power hungry punk. The interview was good for reminding me that our typical political representative is a corrupt scumbag. Seriously, he is the archetype of who gets into office. Hardworking, sleazy, self-centered lying scum who will sell their own grandmother for their next hit of power.
They all suck. There are no good guys in office. Good guys can’t get elected today.
Will there be a primary now(with hope of a Rep. winning?)?
“They all suck” Exception: Paul Ryan(R-Wi)
Somebody got to Massa...
“Somebody got to Massa...”
DING DING DING DING DING DING!
There is some VERY bad dirt on Massa, and he is being blackmailed. The guy is a dirtball, and Rahm and Obama know the details. They always KNEW the details but as long as Massa was a useful idiot to them they left him alone. As soon as he became a liability they used the dirt they had.
I would bet cash money that the goon squad was in contact with Massa between the time it was announced he would be on Beck and the time he actually was on.
I don’t understand why people can’t seem to figure this out.
Perhaps Beck should not have announced Massa was going to be there. But then he wouldn’t get that big ratings bump.
Massa owned Beck.
It had to be Glenn’s most humiliating hour (since his last bender, anyway.)
Glad to finally see at least a few people thinking same thing here.
He was seriously shut down.
I stopped in to visit Mom this afternoon after work and, as usual, laid down on the sofa for a nap. Beck came on and, after a rather weird semi-hype, introduced Massa as his guest. I got bored inside of ten minutes, commented to Mom that Beck stinks as an interviewer, and left.
Beck's demeanor through the whole show was puzzling, and even disturbing. It was like he was caught off guard that Massa showed up. Beck looked unprepared. And I usally like Beck (in small doses).
Beck was notably ashamed.
About the half-way point he covered his mouth, speechless. I read his eyes to say “You tricked me. You aren’t saying anything you lead me to believe you would say”. It went downhill from there.
Massa played Beck like a stradivarius. Sometimes, it just isn’t your day. I’ve learned a ton of details regarding the Obama Administration and his handlers, from Glen Beck. But he was right — it was a complete waste of an hour’s time. At least he recognized it.
