The Hawaii Department of Health claims to have an original copy of Barack Obama's birth certificate, right?
In fact, it is this established "fact" that has persuaded so many people there is nothing to the question of eligibility.
After all, an official in Hawaii has made a public pronouncement that she has inspected the document and declared on her own authority that Obama is a "natural born American" and thus eligible to serve as president.
For many Americans, that settles the question.
However, now a new version of the story is emerging.
The United Kingdom's Sky News reported Saturday: "Authorities in Hawaii have provided an electronic record of Obama's birth because the paper copy was destroyed in a fire which wiped out much of the state's archives."
Which is it?
Does Hawaii actually have an original long-form, paper birth certificate for Obama, or was it destroyed in a fire?
It seems the story is ever-changing.
And that's why it's time for Obama to come clean.
There is little question the heavily Democratic state of Hawaii has no interest in providing any information that would disqualify the first president claiming to be from that state.
If indeed the state has a copy of the original birth certificate, as Director of Health Dr. Chiyome Fukino claims, it should be no problem for Obama to give her permission to release it publicly – and, once and for all, settle the controversy that has resulted in that state being inundated with inquiries from curious American citizens.

Nowhere in the Constitution, nowhere in US law, and nowhere in any decision of the US Supreme Court does it say that a president has to be born of two US citizens.
In fact the 14th Amendment says “ALL persons born or naturalized...” The courts in literally hundreds of cases have affirmed that since the ratification of the 14th Amendment in 1868, there are only two classes of United States citizenship for every American including Presidents, Vice Presidents and candidates for the presidency: born citizens and naturalized citizens. Born citizens can be president and naturalized citizens cannot.
So the taxi is relevant. Where in the United States a person was born is not constitutionally relevant. You don’t have to be born in a hospital to be a born citizen.
President Chester A. Arthur’s father was born in Ireland.
Under Hawaii law, any out of state birth or delayed registration of birth must say that on the short form COLB.
The director of the Hawaii Department of Health has confirmed that Barack Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural born American citizen.

That may not be good enough for you, but its been good enough for Congress and for the Judicial system.
The vote on the resolution for Hawaii’s 50th Anniversary of statehood which proclaimed Hawaii to be the birthplace of Barack Obama was 393-0 in the House and 63 lawsuits have been adjudicated with regard to Obama’s eligibility including 7 at the US Supreme Court and no plaintiff has yet prevailed in any of them.
Not one single Congressman/woman or Senator challenged the certification of Obama’s Electoral votes when Vice President Cheney counted them before a joint session of Congress.
HE said he was born in a hospital.
Look out George Washington, they want you to be ineligible!

Article 2, Section 1 are: birth in the United States, 35 years of age, and 14 years residence in the US. PERIOD.

It was Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Director of the Hawaii Department of Health not Janice Okubo, Communications Director for the state health department and she is the Hawaii governmental official authorized by statute to verify birth records which is a state’s right issue not a federal issue.
