Isn't a pack of good hunting dogs able to do the same thing? Pack of hounds are used to hunt mountain lion, but they don't usually actually engage the cat in a fight. If they do, it's more likely that one or more of the dogs will die. The hounds are there to pursue, wear down, and tree the cat so that the hunter when he finally catches up to the hounds... shoots the cat.
