There's been much speculation lately on the fate of Obamacare in the US Senate. The ins and outs of reconciliation, once a little known technicality in the rules of that legislative body, are now common knowledge to political junkies of all ideologies. But the actual death bed of the president's unpopular and obscenely expensive plan will most likely be the US House of Representatives.

If they pass this monster, the Dems will be enjoying a 3 seat minority in the House come November. That’s 3 seats in total!

The best outcome possible would be for them to try to ram the thing through by reconciliation, only to have it fail by 50 votes.

The reason, I believe, that Obama, Pelosi, & Reid won't manage to accomplish any of the unpopular big government plans such as healthcare and Cap & Tax is because we are already into the primary season and democrats in the house and senate are more worried about their own careers than Obama’s legacy this late in the game. The dems had a window to get those things passed, but, In my opinion that window has already closed.

Yup. The Repubs are far from perfect but they did a good job dragging it out and almost got it into 2010. The scum Dems voted on Christmas Eve probably so the muslim could stick to Christians.

Pelosi is good at counting votes. I doubt they will hold the vote if she doesn't have the votes in hand.

I think if I was a Dem, I'd vote for it. They are probably going to lose even if they vote against it, so what the hell. Might as well go down fighting.

If I was a Dem I would not vote for it. I’d figure if the whole Debacle doesn’t pass, the voters will not be nearly as angry with me as they would be if it did.

That’s why the vote isn’t in a day or two but rather weeks away. They need time not for the pubbies but to cajole their own members. This alone tells me that Obie knows he does not have the votes and is trying to buy time.

And with every passing day, hundreds of thousands of Americans reach the tipping point where they decide the don't like the man in charge, or his deaf lieutenants in the house and senate. Poll numbers ratchet downward. Wavering dems get flooded with angry words from motivated and outraged voters/contributors.

Perhaps it's possible they ram it through. And then they die on the deck of the aircraft carrier. Let's hope we can force them to crash into the ocean first.

I’d prefer it just die. Who knows about undoing it? There are assumptions involved in that. I’ll take the certainty of it failing.
The results will be the same. Instead of having the middle and the right mad at them they’ll have the right and left mad. Same difference.

UPDATE: Appearing on ABC's This Week this morning, Speaker Pelosi urged House Democrats to vote for Obamacare despite the wishes of their constitutents. "We're not here just to self-perpetuate our service in Congress," she said. "We're here to do the job for the American people." (source) Consiering the perpetuation of her own political career is riding on the fading chance that this bill will pass, that's a rather hypocritical tactic for her to employ.

I guess it depends on the district. If you look at the polls, and figure you are going down even if you vote against it, might as well go down voting for it. If it is close, though and you have a chance to claim to be a moderate, maybe you vote for it. I think things are so bad for most of the vulnerable Dems that voting against it won’t help them. The vote they make that destroys the country is the vote to make Pelosi speaker.

That is the key issue and if the anti-abortion language is put in, the pro-abortionists won't vote for it.
