That is exactly what I said the day he said that. For a lawyer not to know the difference between liabilty and full coverage insurance makes me question greatly just how bright he really is. Perhaps there is a good reason why his records are locked. Wouldn’t want anyone to see that 1.85 GPA!

Either Obama fabricated the story or Obama is a dolt. Obama may have elected to only carry liability insurance and save the collision premium to finance his college partying but all is not lost. The driver who hits the rear end of another automobile is nearly always at fault. Obama could have placed his claim against the other guy’s liability insurance. Then again maybe Obama was driving in reverse and hit the other guy’s front end! Does Obama really have a law degree?
How young was he when he had to get this mandatory insurance in Illinois? Someone needs to look up the first year that liability insurance was required — I don’t think it was required until the early- mid-90s in IL (that I remember)... We might be able to call his bluff if he made this particular anecdote up.
