The main story's at the Huntsville Times, "University of Alabama in Huntsville Biology Professor in Custody Regarding Deadly Shooting at Faculty Meeting."
But AOSHQ has a report, "Three Dead at University of Alabama at Huntsville as Woman Denied Tenure Opens Fire." And FWIW, here's this from Professor Bishop's RateMyProfessors page:
Neuroscience essentially turns into a bioethics class. She's a liberal from "Hahvahd" and let's you know exactly how she feels about particular subjects ...

i deserve tenure... i am from harvard...
She is such a crazy leftist, all she had to do was apply for a job in the Obama administration.
Czar material.
Guilty.
You might want to let the smoke clear on this. There’s talk that tenure wasn’t going to be offered to her. For a professor who puts a couple of years into a university...that’s a huge let-down. The funny thing about this episode...why would a Harvard-player allow themselves to come to the Huntsville University?
One key thing is that most of the major companies in the local area laugh over this university...they tend to recruit loser instructors...so the students really aren’t of the quality that the companies seek. The companies end up at other major universities in the region to recruit new employees.
There’s more to this episode in the end....I think. But again...we go back to the discussion of letting people carry weapons on a campus to protect themselves...which is a sad topic to have to find logic in.
This exemplifies the sense of entitlement liberals claim.
She just got upset because they laughed at her for pronouncing “corpsman” the Harvard way.
My son, who has gone back to college as a working adult, was in a communications class with a hyper-liberal professor. About halfway through the semester, my son had enough and called him a “liberal puke” during class when the professor made a remark about how “everyone knows the entire Iraq war is about oil.”
I was proud of him.
MM
Hoisted on her own petard. This must be a hate crime.
Liberal professors tend to not prefer teaching older students because they have too much life experience and cannot be easily swayed.
No, let me rephrase it. They are more likely to kill people. Why? Because their fear of guns left them with a skewed, totally wrong idea of what guns can do. They get all their education from movies.
A responsible gun owner, shooter, hunter likely has some formal training (it is required for hunters for sure.) Experience with handling and shooting guns tells him that guns are not a universal solution to any problem. He knows exactly what to expect from a bullet that hits the target. He knows that shooting someone, except rare situations of self-defense, is not much unlike shooting himself, so he carefully observes all the safety rules, all the time.
Was her lover/girlfriend involved too?
It’s apparent that seeing the story so published is bothering more than a few government-supported folks, who express their opinion that the instructor had some reasonable cause for murder. It’s going to get a lot tougher, though, as we choke the revenues down to a trickle during the years to come. And we do have good reasons for doing that.
One key thing is that most of the major companies in the local area laugh over this university...they tend to recruit loser instructors...so the students really arent of the quality that the companies seek
That is a load of B.S.
Higher education will be the next bubble to burst. And angry leftists are going to have to find real work in the real world.
Agreed. Well said.
John Lott in his book FREEDOMNOMICS explains how colleges are filled with angry leftist, liberal, Democrat professors who are locked into their positions forever by tenure.

Two out of 111 University of Oregon faculty who are registered to vote are registered as Republicans
Dan Lawson, a journalism student at the University of Oregon, had this piece published in the Christian Science Monitor:
The University of Oregon (UO), where I study journalism, invested millions annually in a diversity program that explicitly included “political affiliation” as a component. Yet, out of the 111 registered Oregon voters in the departments of journalism, law, political science, economics, and sociology, there were only two registered Republicans.
A number of conservative students told me they felt Republican ideas were frequently caricatured and rarely presented fairly. Did the dearth of conservative professors on campus and apparent marginalization of ideas on the right belie the university’s commitment to providing a marketplace of ideas? . . .
The reaction of faculty at UO was what I would expect.
A professor who confronted me declared that he was “personally offended” by my column. He railed that his political viewpoints never affected his teaching and suggested that if I wanted a faculty with Republicans I should have attended a university in the South. “If you like conservatism you can certainly attend the University of Texas and you can walk past the statue of Jefferson Davis everyday on your way to class,” he wrote in an e-mail. . . .
Another faculty member told him:
“You think you’re so [expletive] cute with your little column,” she told me. “I read your piece and all you want is attention. You’re just like Bill O’Reilly. You just want to get up on your [expletive] soapbox and have people look at you.” . . . .
