Medina, Beck and Facing The Giants
TheCypressTimes.com ^ | 02/12/2010 | John G. Winder

I asked Debra Medina point blank if she is a 9/11 Truther. Medina’s answer was a simple and to the point, “No.”

Debra Medina entered the Governor’s race as a David standing before not just Goliath, but two Goliaths: Sitting Governor Rick Perry and longtime U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison. Medina didn’t have a chance. Yet here she is today still tilting at windmills and facing down Goliaths. Now a new and powerful foe has come along to oppose Medina in the form of nationally known conservative talk show host Glenn Beck.

You can’t blame Beck for this one. Oops, she did it again.

It’s getting harder and harder to like Glenn Beck.

Oh, BS. She didn't do it again no matter how badly you've longed to quote Britney Spears lyrics.

She's simply saying that you have the right to ask any question you want of your government and it's healthy to do so. In that context the questions the truthers ask are just like the questions the birthers ask.

You wrote, "...Medina said her suspicions about 9/11 were just like suspicions about President Obama's birth certificate." She never said they were "her" suspicions. What is this? We distort, you decide?

She sounds like a person who deeply distrusts the government. What's wrong with that? Hell, I sure don't and I'm not a truther or a birther. She wants government off our backs, just like I do. I don't see that from Smarmy Rick or Klueless Kay. They're hardly different than Obama, Pelosi, Reid, et al, who believe government is the answer.

There are times my answer is so obviously sarcastic that I don’t use a /sarc tag.

Then someone like you, Carl, comes along and floors me!

Was this AFTER the Glenn Beck interview? If so, too little too late.

If it was before the Glenn Beck interview, why in the hell didn’t she give him the same answer instead of derailing her campaign and causing those of us who have been pushing her candidacy, terrible shame and embarrassment?

TURN OUT THE LIGHTS; THE PARTY’S OVER!!!

Glen Beck should be ashamed of himself...
It reminded me of the sleazy way Connie Chung sandbagged Newt’s mother...
Beck needs to issue an apology to both Medina and his audience. It was really low class.

OH PULEEEZE!!! It was a simple question. All she needed to do was give a simple “No” answer. But, she didn’t; she freakin’ blew it. Accept it and move on. Her candidacy is finished. We’re stuck with Governor Good-Hair for another 4 years.

I suggest we send him a few emails inquiring whether Hutchison is involved with a coven of lesbian witches.

Go for it, if you can find a second source.

>>No, Thanks, Mrs Medina.Take your sombrero out of the ring and go home.<<

I agree, let's leave it to the tough actions of Perry and Hutchison.

They've been champions of border and immigration control for years now.

All the while, hundreds of thousands of illegals cross our borders each and every year.

Geeeezzzzz

First, Governor of Texas is not a job that allows for "not taking a stand" on whether or not the US government was responsible for the deaths in DC, New York and Pennsylvania on Sept 11, 2001.

She was asked whether she would disavow advisers who believed that 9-11 was a government conspiracy. She went beyond "yes" or "no," saying she wasn't "into mind control or thought policing people" and doesn't have time to do "psychological testing on people." Transcript here.

MEDINA: Well, you know, that's a federal issue. We're very focused on issues in Texas, on Texas state government. I'm certainly not into mind control or thought policing people.

GLENN: No, that's a pretty big one.

MEDINA: We've got a very diverse team in this state and that's because Texans are standing shoulder to shoulder to support and defend the Constitution. I frankly don't have time, you know, to go through and do psychological testing on people and know every thought or detail that they have.

Saw her just last night, at the Bexar County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. She was campaigning hard, making promises right and left.

I feel a need to explain why. My husband is Comal County Republican Chairman, he had to go to a candidate forum, but wanted to support some of the Conservatives in Bexar County including Curt Nelson (Candidate for County Chair), so he sent me - even though I thought we ought to switch places. Who knew whether I could refrain from trying to convert my less than conservative State Senator and Speaker of the House?

Turns out that our 9 Comal people had fun - we were the rowdy bunch on the far right of the room! And we supported Clayton Trotter (district 20 against Charlie Gonzales) and Quico Conseco ( CD 23, against Ciro Rodriquez) and a couple of our women grilled Tuggey for nearly half an hour for running against Ken Mercer for the State Board of Education, even though Ken is a strong conservative and defender of our children.

Beck isn't a grassroots activist trying to energize anybody...
(And neither are Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Levin or any of the other media pundits you want to name.)
They are NOT "journalists" and don't even pretend to be.
They're merely media shills, spineless sockpuppets for the Powers That Be....
Don't expect them to actually criticize the party elite who they suck up to.

In this particular instance, Medina offended the Powers That Be in the Texas GOP
So Beck was given some talking points and assigned the task of sandbagging her.
And that's exactly what the pudgy media drone did.

That's what's up with that.

Good clarification but she screwed up on Glenn Beck.

The best rationale that I can come up with is that she has supporters who fall into that category, the same with Ron Paul, and she threaded the needle to keep from alienating them and their support. Or not.
