So, why care if the Pay Czar is going to soak some rich bankers? (Besides the fact that its unconstitutional.) I think this is only the beginning. As Obamas policies either stop the economy from recovering, or even make it worse, there will be increasing calls for government assistance. As a response, the government will offer more and more recovery programs to fix what they have broken. As with any government assistance, it will come with strings attached. When you put together the rhetoric and the actions, I think its safe to assume that they left would like to extend this level of control. Over time, they would expand it bit by bit-piece by piece, until most of us would be working under a mandated wage. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see where this might lead. In the end, we always have to remember that the left operates through incrementalism. They go step-by-step, piece by piece, until the end-goal is achieved. This might very well be another step in that direction.

“As a response, the government will offer more and more recovery programs to fix what they have broken. As with any government assistance, it will come with strings attached.”
In a nutshell, this is what would happen under Obamacare were it ever enacted. Like Medicare and SS before it, once a universal health entitlement was established, it would be nearly impossible to put the genie back into the bottle, as progressives would blame any problems arising under the new program on private health insurers and conservatives would likewise blame such problems on government meddling. It would be hard to get a filibuster-proof majority to repeal it outright, so the compromise would be an unending series of “band-aids” that would never fix the problems and would lead us deeper into a fiscal morass. To this day, it is not yet clear that our government is capable of extricating itself from the Medicare Ponzi scheme set into motion under LBJ.
If America goes the way of all other empires, its decision to head down the welfare state road may well be the turning point that historians ultimately deduce led to its decline. We have moved far from the vision of limited government on which this country was founded.
Constitution? What constitution?
heheh.
Government? What government? All I see is a bunch of thugs with pretty offices and police protection....
It has been for years. Make a “problem” then offer a government solution that has strings attached and then when the program itself becomes a problem, offer a new one to replace it. Would you let an plumber that totally screwed up your plumbing because of incompetence come and fix it?
Precisely, more intermeddling so they can continue to come back and haunt the economy. They have already plugged the sewer line, and we don’t see it yet.
Good point!
