More news is surfacing concerning the story reported yesterday on the under-the-table plans for the U.S. Treasury to seize retirement funds and other citizen assets in order to minimize the impact of the coming economic meltdown.
The IRS has been purchasing shotguns for its tax collection activities. A photo of the type of shotgun they are buying indicates that it is the short-barreled variety.
Only 60 of these shotguns will be purchased. But the story concerning the IRS and firearms highlights the fact that the agency has a massive arsenal at the tip of its hands, given that it deploys over 2000 special agents in its investigative division for the purpose of making sure citizens and businesses are forking over their earnings to the government.
And they may need all of those guns sooner than later.
The U.S. is clearly approaching a perfect economic storm of sorts. Although the Feds reassure the citizenry with optimistic financial numbers that under normal circumstances would be cause for hope, the real picture which is not being reported is bleak.

Scoped deer rifle trumps a short barreled shotgun every time.......
All honesty IRS internal affairs has actually reduced it’s numbers of FLETC graduates in last 20 years......
IRS and the tax system sucks but 60 new shotguns for less than 2000 agents.....not a alarm IMO just replacement of worn out duty weapons.
They have always had guns, this is not news.
The Sheriff and his arsenal is always at the ready to support the government’s henchmen.
You all are missing the point. The point is the crisis resulting from the coming economic meltdown, necessitating a show of force, even from the IRS.
7.62x54R steel core.
that should do it
There are at least a ‘few’ of us former vets that welcome the opportunity to re-hone some of the ‘skills’ that our gubbament taught us!
Ya know, I don’t think much has really changed in 2,000 years...
“You all are missing the point. The point is the crisis resulting from the coming economic meltdown, necessitating a show of force, even from the IRS.”
No we are not and have been preparing for this eventuality.
IMO this is probably for the “Defense Force” at the main IRS building in DC in preparation for the “Tax Riots”.
i.r.s. goons can come along with their Remington 870s and we’ll see how they do against my Seaga auto, Dragonov and and Kimber.
Like acorn, the f-ing irs isn’t welcome here.
Get a warrent or stay the hell out.
They probably wouldn’t fare so well against my AR-10, G-3, or M-1 Garand either...:-)
They participate in multiagency raids on bad guys who are not above shooting folks who mess with them, some very major thugs. Seems fair enough to have some fire power, as the other LE agencies have.
Obviously we don’t want them at our door with a shotgun because we missed the 4/15 filing date. I can see where Pelosi and Reid might get nervous if the money isn’t forthcoming, they’ve got jets that need to be fueled for their junkets.
Ya gots a grenade launcher to go with that AR-10?
It’s a nice accessory
Lol...if only those were legal, huh? :-)
1)The point is that TAX COLLECTORS have no business being armed, period. We have armed feds in the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the EPA, the Dept of Agriculture, the Bureau of Land Management, HUD, HSS, Department of Energy, NSA, and over 100 other alphabet soup organizations. You ever meet any of these cretins? They are the strongest argument for gun control I have ever met. I have NO idea why the public would listen to the arguments for these clowns being armed. A border guard left her loaded .40 Sig IN THE BATHROOM STALL inside an airport the other week! That is inside the security gates! A woman found it and turned it in, and it shut down the airport. Federal agents are (with exceptions, of course) stupid, unable to obtain comparable work in the private sector, unmotivated, lazy, irresponsible time servers. They are the LAST group of people I would argue for them carrying guns, and I am an absolutist on the 2A! If tax collectors are dealing with bad guys with guns, THEY SHOULD CALL THE SHERIFF TO GO WITH THEM. That is what "peace officers" (not "law enfocement officers", a totalitarian phrase) are for.
2) the 60 shotguns (nicer than any I have, and I have a few guns!) are ALL FOR ONE DISTRICT. This is not some agency wide replenishment. Why the hell does the San Francisco treasury need 60 shotguns?

Time for a kewpie doll...... ding ding ding.
BTW, I would not advise anyone who has weapons for personal protection to use online threads to rattle these weapons. Learn how to use them, and mentally prepare for what eventualities would cause you to do so, but be aware that ALL threads are reviewed, even if initially by an impersonal device looking for key words.
Be aware that in the event of a "gradual" meltdown, the powers would attempt to clamp down PRECISELY on folks who have posted stuff that could be perceived as threatening.
The people the fed should fear the most in that kind of a situation have pre-arranged places to cache their weapons at the first hints of federal intrusion, so that they only need to maintain "one at a time" for personal use.
That advice not directed at you. I was "just sayin' " as the phrase goes.
The question is, just why the hell does the IRS need weapons in the first place? Are the County Treasurers and State tax collectors going to be given police powers next?
Well come on over then, there are quite a "few" of us hanging out here... ;-)
