Should We Be Concerned About Sarah Palin’s Endorsement of Rand Paul?
Newsreal ^ | 2-2-10

From Louisville Mojo:

As Republican US Senate candidate Dr. Rand Paul approaches his biggest campaign event yet—a Saturday rally at the Fairgrounds that will feature Paul onstage with his dad, former Presidential candidate and US Congressman Dr. Ron Paul—the big news is an upcoming endorsement from 2008 Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

David Adams, Paul’s campaign manager, said he would announce the endorsement “as soon as we get it.”

Janet Levy: Kiss of Death for Sarah Palin?

Rand Paul has expressed opposition to the Patriot Act, has supported the cutting of military spending, has endorsed the shutting down of GITMO and has called for the banning of harsh interrogation of Muslim terrorists. His father (“the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” theory), Ron Paul, wants to end all foreign aid to Israel and see the United States sever its alliance with Israel. He has gone so far as to denounce the pro-Israel lobby on Capitol Hill, but NOT the Saudi lobby. The elder Paul is a staunch critic of military action against Iran.

Palin has just cast her political star in a potentially career-killing direction. I was never a big fan but now I’m definitely no fan at all.

David Swindle: Should We Respond as Though Sarah Palin endorsed Ron Paul?

I have tremendous admiration for Janet Levy’s spirited defenses of Israel and the Jewish people. And I share her disgust for the obscene positions of the embarrassing, crackpot congressman Ron Paul.

While many of Rand Paul’s foreign policy positions are not where we’d like them to be, he does not appear to be the anti-Israel zealot his father is.

Thus, this does not yet appear to be a reason for supporters of Israel to turn on Sarah Palin. However, this is an issue which needs to be explored further before I would more fully disagree with Janet’s position.

No...I just figure she’s trying to pick up the support of some of the Ron Paul supporters from 2008.

How does supporting cutting off foreign aid to Israel amount to anti-Semitism? By the logic, because Paul also supports cutting foreign aid to Arab nations he must be an anti-Arabist, and because he wants to cut foreign aid to sub-Saharan Africa he must be a racist.

I'd like to see the part of the Constitution which authorizes the Federal government to send the American peoples' tax dollars to any foreign government. It doesn't exist.

I support Rand Paul. He is a great candidate and unlike his father isn’t as nutty. He isn’t anti-Israel as has been suggested in attempted smears against him. He’d be a refreshing conservative Senator. Trey Grayson on the other hand is a bad example of a recovering Democrat.

I don’t get why everybody is against the Pauls! This family is the most small-government, conservative, everything-we-all-believe-in (that the GOP doesn’t really espouse) of any in politics out there. If Ron Paul ran for president again (after being $h!t on by freepers and the establishment Romney/Guiliani/McCain bots alike), I would throw my vote and money at him like a chick does her panties at a Eminem concert in a heartbeat. Good for Sarah and her endorsement! It shows true character.

Nope. Rand is not his father. Appears (after BRIEF research) to be a good conservative. He does appear to be trying not to alienate the Paulian base too much, with some success, but he seems to be pretty solid.

Ron Paul, wants to end all foreign aid to Israel and see the United States sever its alliance with Israel.

It was our FOUNDING FATHERS that said something to the effect of, "Alliance with none, commerce with all." It's time we Constitutionalists get back to the founders' intent before it's all lost in confusion.

We should be thrilled about it. Shout it from the rooftops! Let the Neocons in the Senate go back to the home states & join the Democratic Party where they belong.

Is there any truth to the following comments?

"Rand Paul has expressed opposition to the Patriot Act, has supported the cutting of military spending, has endorsed the shutting down of GITMO and has called for the banning of harsh interrogation of Muslim terrorists."

Amen! The government should stop overtaxing us so we can send funds to whom we please. People who are against big government should be against foreign aid.

He is opposed to the Patriot Act.

His position is that national defense is the primary role of the federal government so he wouldn't support defense cuts, at least not drastic ones.

He does not support closing Gitmo, but rather using it to hold convicted terrorists. He has said that those deemed innocent or those for whom we have no evidence to try should be released.

I'm not certain about the last point.

Rand Paul: Try, Convict and Lock Up Terrorists In Guantanamo

Published on 19 November 2009 by admin in General News

November 19, 2009

BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY – Leading United States Senate candidate Rand Paul today criticized the Obama administration’s decision to close the Guantanamo Bay detention center and try terrorism suspects in United States Civil Courts.

“Foreign terrorists do not deserve the protections of our Constitution,” said Dr. Paul. “These thugs should stand before military tribunals and be kept off American soil. I will always fight to keep Kentucky safe and that starts with cracking down on our enemies.”

Dr. Paul believes in strong national defense and thinks military spending should be our country’s top budget priority.

Rand Paul has expressed opposition to parts of the patriot act. I think his concerns are resonable.

http://www.randpaul2010.com/issues/a-g/guns-politicians/
Rand Paul had this to say about Guantanamo Bay:

“Foreign terrorists do not deserve the protections of our Constitution,” said Dr. Paul. “These thugs should stand before military tribunals and be kept off American soil. I will always fight to keep Kentucky safe and that starts with cracking down on our enemies.”

He doesn’t support ‘torture’ or enhanced interrogation. I part ways with him on that but unlike our liberal friends he isn’t about assigning terrorists lawyers and sending them to NY. He is a constitutionalist and we need more of those.

Check for yourself. I’m more scared of radical socialist liberals and milktoast Republicans than anything Rand Paul believes.

You know the connection.

Ron Paul is a NeoLeftist

His son is not in total lockstep with him.
