You really need to check out these photos of a wild polar bear hugging a tethered sled dog. Yes you read correctly, the dog is tied up and instead of lunch, the bear wants a hug

I would think the *steak* would be lunch for the polar bear. Now if they were tethered to a *stake*, that's a different matter.
Amazing!
I’d like to teach the world to sing
I’d like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow-white turtle doves
Chorus:
I’d like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I’d like to hold it in my arms
And keep it company
(That’s the song I hear)
I’d like to see the world for once
(Let the world sing today)
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land
That’s the song I hear
(That’s the song I hear)
Let the world sing today
(Let the whole wide world keep singing)
A song of peace that echoes on
And never goes away
(Repeat 1st stanza and Chorus)
Put your hand in my hand
Let’s begin today
Put your hand in my hand
Help me find a way
I suppose I’ll just have to teak your word for the fact that there’s a steak at the end of that chain. But if the dogs are truly tethered to a steak, wouldn’t they be eating the steak and if they were, wouldn’t the bear be going after the steak too?
And how “tethered” would the dog’s be if all that’s at the end of the chain is a steak? Couldn’t they drag it off wherever they wish to go?
Or did you mean that by getting them to hunker down at the steak and eat it, they’d stay put? Except, that what happens after they finish parteaking of the steak?
Where is the third picture showing the chain sticking out of the polar bear’s mouth?
Fatima, I know you’re always giving out free hugs. I thought maybe you could use some free bear hugs to refill your supply.
Thanks for posting them. Really great pictures. :)
Nice!
Always wished I could hug a polar bear. (and live)
I guess the bear had nothing to lose by dropping its defenses. Pretty amazing that the dog settled down and accepted the benign advances of the bear. I wonder how the photographer remained outside this circle of love?
Cute ping.
That’s cool, but I suspect if the dogs had been tethered to a steak, they’d have run away from the bear dragging dinner behind them.
As it was, tethered to a stake, we got to see this heartwarming display of interspecies affection.
The steak could be the appetizer
Tethered to a steak? And the dogs didn’t eat it?
This one persuaded me:
VERY nice, thanks!!!
PING
These pictures were shot because a photographer wanted some sunset photos of a dog sled. Set it up with a local, when he arrived for the session, so did the bear. I saw the full set. Amazing stuff. In the story, he said the local told him the bear returned every evening for two weeks to play with the dog.
