Corn fed neighbors, now that's planning ahead!
I don’t have any aminoglycosides and I am aware they can cause renal damage like Fanconi syn. I was not aware that doxycycline was neprhotoxic—are you positive?
Doxycycline is generally nephrotoxic (and hepatotoxic too) only at high doses. In other words, it’s generally not a problem for normal doses in people with normal kidneys and livers
The breakdown products of doxycycline however (i.e. what you get in old doxycycline) are toxic, mainly to the kidneys. The toxicity of expired doxycycline can occur even after taking “normal” doses of the drug and in people with previously healthy kidneys. This toxicity may take the form of Fanconi syndrome.
Is a healthy young person likely to die from taking a few doses of expired doxycycline? Probably not, at least if advanced medical care (an ER and inpatient hospitalization) are available. However, if you think you are saving a few bucks by using expired doxycycline ... you may wish to consider the cost of that ER visit, time in the hospital, and post-hospital follow up. Really, in my opinion, it’s not even a question of being penny wise and pound foolish. It’s more like a question of being penny wise and pound stark raving mad.
And yeah, I’m pretty sure that what I just wrote is true.
Thanks for the ping, I will put a link on our frugal/survival thread.

“We have enough water stored in our swimming pool to not only be used by us but our friends, family and neighbors. It would take very little to make it potable.”
Unless you have some way to remove the copper from the algeacides it will take more than you think to make pool water potable.
You make a good point. JW Rawles calls this “OPSEC” or Operational Security.
Never a good idea to go bragging about your “preps”.
Said the same thing to all of my in-laws.
I’ve been told and read that Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth will kill the pests in the flour. You mix it in and since its food grade you can consume it without harm.

I’ve bought honey here http://www.honeyvillecolorado.com/ and been happy with it. In bulk its cheaper than the stores here.
Another interesting site http://thesurvivalmom.com/
I would add, plant things that look like weeds. Amaranth, quinoa (looks like lambs quarters), wonderberry (looks like deadly nightshade, but the flowers are white-to-cream instead of purple). There are also many plants that will look like their wild cousins simply by not being planted in rows (carrots, parsnips, sorrel).
Also, nurture wildlife in your area, and learn to trap. Traps are quiet, gunshots make noise.
Very good points. Things we take for granted now are going to look and sound very conspicuous if it all grinds to a halt.
The big question is where and how to get them.
That’s why you don’t tell anyone about your stock.
It looks like 63.96 with 24 dollar fed ex shipping.....to my zip code anyway. I live in the north east.
Sent my hubby the link. He will think it’s cool and order it. Not much of a battle when its a gadget.
Don’t use algecides that contain copper. Or at least when I check for minerals copper doesn’t even register.
