What about "trinity" - is that mentioned anywhere in the Bible? (just askin')
You're asking the one person on this site who wouldn't know. :)
Good link, thank you for posting it.
The word Trinity is not mentioned, but the trinity is certainly noted.
Matt 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
As far as the Rapture, Jesus himself said that he will return only once more. I don’t know where theologians got the notion that he will come in secret and take those who are his and then return 7 years later for those who change their minds.
no, the rowd Trinity is not in th eBible.
The Trinity is a description of the 3 attributes of Gd as
1.Father
2. Son
3. Holy Spirit
It came about because of the way each is described in their Power, act of having personal attributes such as personality and ‘personhood’ (not God is a person, but each of these three have a distinct mention as someone separate and distinct from each other), and of the rank or power that each has and how these powers of the powers associated only with God, such as omnipotence, ability of being everywhere at once, knowing everything at once, being able to perform miracle like transformation of many or one at once by their own will, unlike an Angel which in all written record only do one thing at a time and do it because they were told to.
Start with that. It is an easy concept and a difficult one at the same time. :)
The word “harpadzo” was the word used in the Greek verbage of 1 Thessalonians 4:17....meaning “seized” or to “transport”. English/Latin translated it into “raptus” or “rapture”...first coined by Shakespeare (per Google because I’m not that smart) :)
True, and I am a believer in the trinity. The point I was making is that many people dismiss the doctrine of the rapture with something along the lines of "the word 'rapture' is not in the bible". God gives us all a certain amount of light (I believe that light was what Jesus was referring to in the parables involving talents - you may believe differently of course), and I'm sure that when we get to heaven each of us will find out that a lot of our cherished beliefs and rejections were wrong.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-1
Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed-- 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52
The fact that mankind, who is at enmity with God, routinely discards and denies Scripture that it doesn't understand or doesn't like doesn't mean that the facts of those particular Scriptures are untrue.
Jesus told us in His Book that He will return for His Church before He judges this evil, unbelieving world. He will then return a second time, after the judgment, to set up His millennial kingdom.
All of this can be found in the Bible.

Pre-Tribulational Rapture... Seven year Dispensationalism... Etc.
Tis my considered opinion that, just as the Jewish Pharisees and Saducees and priests and scribes couldnt recognize Jesus-Messiah way back when, so our prophecy-interpreting religious professionals and their hopeful acolytes wont have a ghost of a clue if he returns during their time.
Matthew 24:21,22--For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should be no flesh be saved, but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Matthew 24:29,30--Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mathew 24:31--And he shall send his angles with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Right on! He will come as a thief!
How true... but the Trumpet will sound seven years before this period called the tribulation. Pre Trib baby..
Where does the bible say this?
Matthew 24 clearly says the trump sounds "AFTER the tribulation of those days" and the elect are gathered at this time, NOT before.
My dear friend you have to see things thru the window of dispensationalism. This section is talking about the people who survive the tribulation period who are unsaved. The Angels of God will remove them and the 1000 year reign of Christ will begin. All surviving individuals who are regenerated -by Faith in Christ- will only enter into the Kingdom. Read Daniel 12:11-12, Matthew 13:29, 30, 38-43, 46-50. That which offends will be removed.
Also, the trumpet is not even mentioned in Matt 24. I once also held that view. I encourage you to look thru it carefully and be objective. It is always well to challenge your belief to see if it stands the Biblical test. I have always done it and Almighty God has always lead me to the truth. Here is alink below that might be helpful
God Bless! (John 16:12-15)

Mathew 24:31--And he shall send his angles with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Sounds like a trumpet to me. His elect are the saved not the unsaved. Nowhere in Matthew 24 (or the other verses you cite) are the elect removed before the tribulation. There is one harvest.
All those "Left Behind" movies have left many with the mistaken impression that the elect will be removed before those days. Wishful thinking. Matthew 24:40,41 describe two working in a field where one is taken, the other is not. And two women at the mill, one is taken the other is not. Jesus says this will occur after the tribulation of those days. He describes no rapture before that time, an important event to not mention.
Matthew 24:21 says the tribulation will be unmistakable-- "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor everal shall be. And in Matthew 24:29 Jesus describes the day of Lord which will occur AFTER those days. If you're expecting a pre-tribulation rapture, you're going to be sorely disappointed.
