I don't want Sarah to campaign for McCain because I care about her, what she stands for, and conservatism. Read my argument before calling me names, please.

Maybe she starting to develop some RINO stripes.

I agree with you about the WOT, but ultimately this is SP’s political calculus and so far she’s done quite well. Let’s trust that she knows what she’s doing.

I think a legitimate parallel can be seen in the way Sarah Palin is pledging to support John McCain ‘100 percent’ in his re-election bid (despite the horrific and disgusting treatment that she was subjected to by the McCain insiders during the ‘08 campaign, Steve Schmidt for one) and the way that a battered and abused wife keeps returning to her abusive husband in hopes that “next time it will be different” and “maybe he won’t hit me again” which is admirable, but unfortunately it is naive as all Hell.
If Sarah Palin REALLY wanted to do some good in Arizona, she would start making appearances for McCain where she would “talk about how we need seniors in the Senate who understand the issues facing the aged, the infirm, the senile” (hint hint), or maybe “skin cancer couldn’t slow down John McCain, he is as healthy as any typical 73 year old cancer survivor” or perhaps “homosexuals have no greater friends than Cindy and Meghan McCain!”
Now that would be the kind of support that J.D. Hayworth would heartily approve of, lol
Well, party loyalty, for party loyalty's sake, IMO, is politics as usual. A favor now, hoping for a favor later is not going to work in Palin's case. And who wants a favor from McCain anyway, his way leads right down the RINO highway to hell. Afterall, what's the name of her book? Is she "Going Rogue" by campaigning for John McCain, I think not. Now with his wife and daughter coming out against Prop 8, she'll get burned, by association.
“but... the election ended in 2008 darlin”
But the gutter sniping at her did not, especially from within the campain chief and his minions. Even when McCain was asked about Schmidt’s comments on 60 minutes, all he could say was he was proud of everyone in his campaign. What a weasley swarmy answer.
I fully expect McCain will stab her in the back once he is re-elected, just like he has to every other conservative who ever supported him in the past. We can all see this and that is the main reason we are upset with her loyalty to a man who has not earned it. Sure he picked her for the VP slot, but it is becoming clear he did so for political expediency when his choice of Loserman blew up. At that time he had to pick someone who was obscure but conservtive and making it a woman was a potential politcal game changer which it was.
Lets face it, most everyone else saw his campaign already going into the gutter and would not consider jumping on an already sinking ship. It was by the grace of God alone that Sarah came into the picture because she bailed out a sinking ship for a while until he decided to suspend the campaign to support TARP.
What is your point, darlin’?
I had this disagreement in 2008, I don’t think that a seventy year old man will change.
Her endorsing McCain tells me she is NOT going to run.
I and many others are very concerned and disappointed over this decision. It has nothing to do with how she was treated in the campaign, it has everything to do with John NOT being a conservative.
He is one of the biggest problems in DC... him and his sidekick, Graham.
She said she would only campaign for conservatives. This now is as big a lie as BO saying he would carry the healthcare negotiations on C-Span. I guess she is “politician as usual.”
A political career-ender in my book.
I’ve emailed Sarah’s PAC stating that McCain will hurt the effort. It’s all anyone can do right now, so do it!
Sure, but he is running in his home state where he has won many times. Her brand brings people to the polls who hate his brand. The ultimate argument is that he can’t win on his own for a reason.
As far as I am concerned Palin is stabbing us in the back, with a backroom deal of some sorts.
SP.... Refute McCain, and support a real conservative.
And that reason is the possibility of JD Hayworth breathing down his back and polling at even before an announcement is getting uncomfortable.
I’m told the guy running against McCain is a Paul nut. Ron Paul is a kook. There is no way the Paul nut would win anyway.
Drift Diver
I had heard he is more of a conservative. Ron P. ain’t one. INterested to hear if you have some details though. My research was from politico.
Its bad form to pimp your blog. Posting it as a thread to start discussion is one thing.
Making multiple comments pushing people to go to your blog is sad.
No man is an island.
Sarah is not running for Royalty; like George Washington, she has no use for a monarchy.
All of our elected representatives should maintain their principles - which does not exclude pursuing comity and civility.
Setting an example of good manners and reason will demonstrate the difference between conservatives and them others. It’s too late for logic.
