The Left: Bending Over Backwards to Excuse Racism

A new book about the 2008 presidential election has made quite a stir with its revelation that Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.) chose some, shall we say, unfortunate wording when referring to then candidate Barack Obama in some "private" discussions with reporters during the late presidential campaign.

In the book Game Change penned by John Heilemann and Mark Halprin, Harry Reid is quoted as saying that people supported Obama because he was "light skinned," and because he exhibited no "Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one." This implies that Reid thinks dark skinned Negroes cannot win election.

Before the quote was widely known, though, on Saturday Harry Reid rushed an apology to the press, one quickly accepted and downplayed by now President Obama. Both prepared to move forward as if nothing happened. Republicans have pointed to this as a fine example of a double standard. They recalled that Senator Trent Lott was hounded out of leadership in 2002 for making some complimentary remarks about Senator Strom Thurmond at his retirement party. Republicans have now gone on to call for Reid's removal as Senate Majority Leader in a similar vein to Lott’s situation. Naturally Democrats have demurred from demanding that Reid step down and Republicans are calling this a classic example of the left's double standard. It is clear that incidents such as this are used to destroy Republicans but similar incidents when involving Democrats are swept under the rug...

So if, according to Democrats, Harry Reid has apologized and it is now a “done deal,” why did they carry on so long after the SC senator’s personal apology to Obama for saying “you lie”?

Harry Reid could be having sex with under aged male light-skinned pages, while watching Birth of a Nation for stimulation, and the Dems would see no reason to make a fuss.

Its all a joke, no one of these clowns has a definition of “racism” that would make any sense, and yet we continue to be led around by the nose by these evil fools. Our side plays along with this game trying to find a white person dumb enough to have uttered something stupid like Reid to go on their own holy jihad against for something they cannot accurately define.

I can just see it now. Come 2020 or so, a dark skinned black guy runs for president. And unless he gets elected, America will be considered a racist country.

Johnnie Cochran calls it racist.

Remember when this happened during the OJ Simpson murder trial?

Darden angered Cochran when he asked Heidstra if he (Heidstra) had told someone that one of the voices sounded Black. Cochran emphatically objected to the question and Ito Sustained it. However, Heidstra continued speaking. That led to Ito yelling at him to "Wait! Wait!"

The jury was then ordered to leave and Darden defended his line of questioning by pointing out that an aquaintance of Heidstra's quoted him (Heidstra) as saying one of the voices sounded Black and like O. J. Simpson.

Cochran angrily responded: "I resent that statement. You can't tell by somebody's voice whether they sound Black. That's a racist statement."

Democrats say that saying "Negro dialect" is not racist. Johnnie Cochran says that "sounding black" is a "racist statement."

Its not racist to make a reference to someone’s race. The racism in this episode, and there is plenty, lies in all the histrionics and mea culpas and overwrought apologies and in the embarrassing race obsession that the Left engages in. They find it impossible to ignore race, and they find it impossible to be casual or analytical or neutral, its always a big deal to them.

The DNC is the party of race obsession. They can’t help it; its who they are. For them its impossible to ignore and impossible to be relaxed about; every racial reference is for them fraught with peril.

Its a mistake for us to play their game and get sucked into their obsessions as we do occasionally. If what you’ve said isn’t offensive, you should never apologize. It only makes it worse; you are just feeding their obsession which is a mistake especially when you don’t share their obsession.

Just as the pre-civil war days of slavery the black americans seem to be slaves to the Democrat Party. Amazing.

The excusing of Reid’s racism by the NAACP and other well-known black Americans has clearly demonstrated that “Racism” is no longer a real concern in America but has become ONLY a baseless charge to be trotted out for political purposes.

I notice that with conservative people, race issues are not ignored and are discussed openly. The friendships between conservative people of different ethnic backgrounds also often run much deeper for they are not given out of some sense of guilt or correctness, but from earned respect.
