Here is video of former McCain Campaign Chief Strategist Steve Schmidt on "60 Minutes" last night, where he claims McCain decided to choose Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate at the last minute as a replacement for preferred choice Sen. Joe Lieberman.
Schmidt says the decision was made late Sunday night just before the beginning of the Republican National Convention in 2008 as they sat around a table and ate "deep fried burritos."
Schmidt essentially trashes Palin in the interview, saying she knew little about Foreign Policy and other issues. He did say she was a "quick study." He claims Palin did poorly in the Katie Couric interview because she "did not prepare for it." Schmidt actually defended Couric, saying he did not feel Couric "asked a single unfair question" in the interview. . . . . (VIDEO)

Another RINO 5th columnist hack needing to be purged from the Republican party.
While this guy has every right to mouth off, hope he NEVER gets a political job - certainly not with the pubbies - ever again. Thou shalt not RAT...
Says more about McCain and his “strategeryists” than Palin.
Had McCain chosen Lieberman or any other ‘rat, I flat-out would not have voted for him. I really thought that he was going to pick Lieberman.
I'm sure that is not exactly the case with this Schmidt guy, that in fact there was no need for 60 Minutes to take him out of context to fit their agenda, for Schmidt and 60 Minutes share the same dishonest agenda.
They are pretty much all losers, just look at the great strategy they developed to beat Obama.
The only thing the MSM is good for is hit pieces on decent people. Anyone remember Samoza of Nicaragua ? Media did a hit piece on him but he was friendly to this country unlike the Daniel Ortega dictatorship.
Schmidt has been beating on Palin because to do otherwise would be to admit that he and McCain were totally clueless in running a winning campaign. The fact that Palin is selling books hand-over-fist, and is drawing huge crowds just hacks him off royally. The McCainiacs just cannot accept that they’re out of touch with the Republican base.

The only reason Schmidt got this interview was that he was willing to trash Palin. Do you think that 60 Minutes would give him time to talk about his failed McCain campaign strategy? Of course not.
Fifty years from now, the world will know who Sarah Palin is, will anyone remember steve what’shisname?
Balzar should gather his family and go back to France.
Is Schmidt a fag?
This is all old sour grapes stuff. One hopes that Schmidt will at least try to be an adult and move on soon. It was not Palin’s fault McBipartisan was creamed. It was mcBipartisan and Schmidt’s fault.
Mark McKinnon was Bush's "COMMUNICATION" guy!! I think Mark SABOTAGED Bush, since he is a DEMOCRAT!!!!!
Steve Schmidt is a MEAN LIBERAL.
I recall another incident like that, in which “60 Minutes” did a hatchet-job on some businessman, back in the 1970s or early-80s. They interviewed him and then edited the footage in a deliberate way to conform to their agenda, with him being made into prime villain. Somehow, the full footage of the interview leaked out, which showed how the editing process twisted reality on its head, altering the gist of what their interviewee actually was stating.
It was one of my first encounters with left-wing media bias, and was a very eye-opening experience. That was over two decades ago, but because of it, I never again believed a single word coming out of “60 Minutes,” and immediately took a skeptical eye to everything the network news divisions reported.
Some of us were never fooled. We didn't vote for him anyway.
