Surprising even in liberal Massachusetts there's no love for Obama or ObamaCare, |

Don't look now, but Republican Scott Brown leads Democrat Martha Coakley by one point, 48 to 47 percent, in Public Policy Polling's new poll of the January 19 special Senate election in Massachusetts.
Brown is benefiting from depressed Democratic interest in the election and a huge lead among independents for his surprisingly strong standing. Those planning to vote in the special election only report having voted for Barack Obama in 2008 by a 16 point margin, in contrast to his actual 26 point victory in the state.

I know it’s a long way out weather-wise, here’s the forecast anyhow:

Will be watching.
In doing so, she would be following in the footsteps of people like Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and the big cheese himself, Sheik Barack Hussein Obama.
Despite it being a Sunday morning, the place was open and bustling. People were signing up for phone duty when I got in there. Get this: They were COMPLETELY OUT of yard signs and bumper stickers.
I don't normally do this but I am going to try to get there after work next week to help work the phones. I feel that we are very close to a monumental upset here in Massachusetts and we've got to do everything in our power to get this to happen. Can you imagine the political earthquake that would occur nationally if Ted Kennedy's old seat was taken over by a Republican that OPPOSES socialized medicine in what is arguably the most liberal state in America?
It is my understanding that interim Senator Kirk was appointed to serve until the very day of the special election.
Tea Partiers need to pay visits to certain neighborhood polling places on election day.
Either they suck at this, are doing it on purpose or have gotten their act together and refined their technique.
This could be seen as a referendum on PPP.
Does this mean that if the special election isn’t resolved, the MA Senate seat will be vacant?
If so, Forgiven_Sinner is right and that’s very good news.
I should have said “affect” the ebonics. But they try for the “effect,” that’s for sure.
Jimmy Carter loved to do it. Being from rural Georgia, he sounded fairly convincing. He was probably allowed to play with the “cullid boys” as a youngster and picked up a thing or two from them.
How many poster here said that exact same thing about Christie vs. Corzine just a few short weeks ago? Shocking outcome, wasn’t it?
Comparing 2010 to 2008 is a big mistake. The American people have had to swallow a very large dose of O-politics and they are very unhappy campers at this point.
Yep, tell me about it! It WAS always the case in NJ until Christie's win. I couldn't believe it. I think his margin made it difficult to fool around with a former prosecutor!
That’s right. So, what we need to do is to beat that margin. We aren’t doing it yet according to the polls, but if it’s not close, their cheating matters a whole lot less.
“?Blacks won?t be showing up to vote for some honky white lady?
I believe the currently correct usage is “icy white bitch”, which in this case fits perfectly.
In addition to her IWB status, Martha has put a lot of bruthas in the slammer. Will it matter?
Who knows?
The reaction of the enemy tells us a lot about the real nature of this race. They are scrambling to energize their radical base. Why?

Color me skeptical This is the state that kept Kennedy in office for more than 45 years after all...
One other thing, has Brown made statements about how he would vote on the Health Care bill if elected? Just because he’s a republican, I am not assuming that he’ll vote no on cloture giving us a fillibuster. It would be a cruel joke indeed if he won and was the deciding vote to pass health care...
Welcome to Free Republic! I’ll take a 1 point lead from a Dem polling organization any day of the week. This is great news for Brown, and there is no other way to look at it. Again, welcome to Free Republic!
“Tea Partiers need to pay visits to certain neighborhood polling places on election day.”
Yes, is that possible? Does anyone know how to possible get this going? If a million Tea partiers can march on Washington, that could be quite a few eyes making sure Acorn doesn’t interfere with Scott Brown becoming Massachusets Junior Senator Scott Brown!
Maybe, but there aren’t all that many blacks in MA anyway outside Boston.
A very interesting perspective, thanks :)
In my experience though, these are liberals and liberals pull out all the stops all the time. Sometimes, it’s enough to get it done. Others, it isn’t.
If it’s down to a few thousand votes, Brown’s going to lose somehow. There, they will pull out all the stops to cheat their way in. If they are separated by more than one percentage point on election night, they won’t be able to do that.
There will be plenty of fraud going on in the actual voting, so if Brown is up by 1+ percentage points on election night, he’s actually won by quite a bit more. But if they fail to get it close enough on election night to have it end up in court, their goose is cooked. I don’t think the fraud machine in MA is as polished as the one in NJ. I also think that many of the folks who are inclined to ‘bend rules’ to elect Dems are not happy with the Dems and are really unhappy with Coakley.
If Brown is leading with independents the way PPP says he is, and if his approval numbers are right, compared to Coakley’s, I don’t see how he loses on election night. Even in the unfair environment that is caused by Rat voter fraud.
