Harry Reids remarks are offensive to all Americans. I am disgusted, though not surprised that Reid thinks like this. The idea that he would strategize a presidential race based on skin color and speech pattern only proves that he is out of touch. Apparently, Reid decides that all Americans are not created equal; deciding one skin color over another color for the basis of being qualified to win or not goes against everything that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. hoped for, that one day his own children would live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. - Sharron Angle, Reid's opponent for re-election
On Fox and Friends they were interviewing a dem. strategist who said look to his actions not his words!! Made me so mad, because how many times have they said “Don’t look @ the pub’s actions, look @ his words.” I hate this double faced party.
Harry Reid has to resign. If they and the press went after Trent Lott for his innocent remarks, then they have to do the same and leave. But the press will give him a pass.
Al Sharpton forgave Reid. Yet Rev. Al demanded Trent Lott’s resignation and Don Imus’s firing.
Also if Mitt Romney made those comments, the media could talk about the long history of racism in the Mormon Church.
So Reid refers to President Obama as a “negro” and “light skinned’ and will most likely get a free pass.
Trent Lott said a few nice words to Stromm Thurman and people inferred racism and he had to step down.
Ok, now I get how it works.
On dialect...
...The ability to speak clearly, without an accent is VERY important for anyone who gives speeches and wants to create the illusion that they have some kind of intellect.(skin color is completely irrelevant Mr. Reid!)
Remember how everyone (especially the Dumobrats) made fun of Bush and his Texas accent? I wish to God he would have at least tried to speak with a more neutral accent. His Texan accent is severe - even in Texas! It just sounds dumb.
We don’t hear broadcasters saying “ya’ll, brutha, or Nucular”. They all have “neutral” accents and that is by design. It takes work and practice to speak like that...especially when you start off with a severe dialect.
Reid is clearly an idiot on many levels, but spot on about the dialect. He is obviously a racist.
Harry just said what actually got Obama elected. What’s the big deal.
He made one speech and everyone said Gee he sounds so articulate. Then he got elected.
It’s all he ever had.
Reid’s a Mormon.
You don't seem to understand the difference between "dialect" and mispronounced words, i.e., "nucular."
GWB grew up in a home with parents from the Northeast who do not have a TX accent and attended Andover ...which last time I heard isn't in West Texas. So, where do you think GWB got the accent you think sounds "dumb."
I think you think dumb.
Yes, I have a TX accent and I'm not embarrassed by it. The last I heard there is no correlation between the rate of speech and intelligence. Too many people get into trouble when their tongue gets ahead of their brain!
Exactly. See the double standard by the “Civil Rights” leaders. Of course, pointing out the double standard is racist according the Left.
So where is Mitchie the Kid McConnell demanding that Reid resign his seat? And what are they saying on MSNBC? Demands for censure? Resignation? BWAHAHAHAHA
So, GWB developed his accent over time. I grew up in Texas and don’t have an accent now, but I did when I was young and thought that was just the way people spoke.
I would not have had a 30+year career in broadcasting with that Texan accent. Nope. Nobody would have hired me.
So who’s dumb?
YOU are if you equate intelligence with rate of speech.
You think sounding smart, according to your opinion of that, makes you smart. Ain't so!
Back to the media criticizing GWB and judging his intelligence by his speech, do you ever remember LBJ or Jimmy Carter being criticised, called stupid by the media because of their accents? Was JFK criticized because of his accent?
Have you ever heard of Arrianna Huffington being called dumb because of her accent. I can hardly understand her but I don't think she is dumb because of that! I think she's stupid because of her thinking.
Reid MUST resign, immediately.
(Make them live up to their own rules!)
Here’s what BHO said about Trent Lott...
Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D-13th), who hosted WVON’s Cliff Kelley Show, challenged the Republican Party to repudiate Lott’s remarks and to call for his resignation as senate leader.
“It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do,” said Obama.
He said: “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”
—From the December 12, 2002 issue of the Chicago Defender.
I didn’t say people who spoke with dialect were dumb! I said in so many words that leaders who give speeches on a World Stage, like GWB...whom I greatly admire, would be more well received by the media and public if they neutralized their accents! If Obozo spoke with an inner city black American dialect when he was running for election..like Jesse Jackson did, he never — in a million years — would have been elected president. He neutralized his speech pattern and speaks clearly with no indication of what state, city or region he is from. If GWB would have neutralized his accent, the left likely would not have called him a hayseed and made so much fun of him over the years. And yes, I remember Jimmy Carter being severely criticzed for his Southern Drawl. “Peanut Farmer”
As for Huffington...can’t stand the woman. What a puffed up POS. An elitist for certain.
So jump off Lonestar. I can Texan talk all day. I just choose not to, because of my profession.
Good quotes - we verified them and added them, along with Michael Steele’s call for Reid’s resignation to our article.
Thanks -
Reid is culturally and intellectually isolated from modern America. He gives ignorance a bad name.
