The (now) Controversial Scott Brown for Senate Ad
The Up Blog ^ | 1/8/2009 | Brian Humeck

January 19th will be a big day in Massachusetts but an even bigger day for America. It could be the day America is saved. If Scott Brown defeats Martha Coakley, it means America only has to worry about Olympia Snowe or Susan Collins. If we can keep them from turning, health care reform as we know it, will not happen. We will then be able to start over from scratch and take on reform in an affordable manner.

With the polls getting closer (Brown only down by 9%), some liberals such as the New York Times’ Abby Goodnough are disputing the Rasmussen poll. She did so in the NYT on today. She complained Rasmussen Reports polling doesn’t meet the Times’ standards (I’m guessing she means standards of inaccuracy). Rasmussen was actually more accurate than the Times in predicting the 2008 presidential race.

Now that the race looks as if it can be pulled out in favor of the Republican, more people are trying to help Brown win. Even what is reported by the AP, to be an “Iowa based conservative group” (with many ties to Mitt Romney), has jumped into the mix with a $400,000 ad buy. On Friday, Scott Brown called for the ad to be pulled by the AFF. Why does Brown want the ad pulled? It simply compares Brown’s record on taxes with Coakley’s. He said in a statement that he does not want this race to be decided by outside groups. However, in that same statement, he said he wants this race to come down to the differences between he and Coakley on the many issues….including taxes.

Below is the press release from the AFF (which includes the text and a video link of the ad):

If Scott Brown were to win that would send quite a message to the two weak links, Snowe and Collins.

It’s a great ad. I don’t understand why Scott Brown insists on it being pulled. That’s insane.

He's pledged to vote against obamacare and you're not going to get any better senator elected in Massachusetts.

Good enough for me. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

"an “Iowa based conservative group” (with many ties to Mitt Romney)"

Nonsense. If it's tied to Slick Willard, it ain't a Conservative group.

Beware Freepers of a mole in your mist!!! This special election is far bigger then Scott Brown. It is an opportunity for a gigantic “Game Changer” in American politics. It is not the time to vote Democrat or Republican. It is a time to vote against those (Czar Barack Hussein Obama & his Democrat ilk, Martha Coakley included) who are destroying American jobs, American security and safety and stealing away your American freedom. And it is a time to vote for America, her future and your children and grandchildren. Heed not those on this posting that speak with forked tongue!!! Support and vote for Scott Brown and do something most Americans will never have the chance to do, save our country from those within that would destroy the very basics of our freedom and greatness!!! When you are old and grey, you can tell your grandchildren that you cast your vote for Scott Brown, for them, for their freedom and future, and....you are darn proud you did becasue it was a shot heard round the world!!!

He will vote with an ACU rating of between 40 to 60 every year I’d guess, and that’s far better than the alternative. On some issues, he’s very good, to include gun ownership, parental notification, etc.

re: Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good

Everybody has a lesson to learn. For liberals it's that raising taxes won't increase revenues. For us conservatives it's “Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.”

All a candidate has to do to get the votes of liberals is support any one of their causes. All a conservative has to do to lose the votes of conservatives is not support one of their causes.

Part of learning is the ability to recognize patterns and put that to use to avoid future unhappy outcomes. Conservatives, as a whole, have simply not figured that out. Here we are with, by most accounts, the worst president in American history, yet there are still those who would not vote for a Scott Brown because he's not the perfect candidate. When there are but two choices not supporting the MORE favorable usually means you'll end up with the less favorable.

It would be different if ballots had a none of the above and we could get a do over if that choice got the most votes, but we don't. We have been given a take it or leave it system and the liberals have learned to use that against us. I can't think of a single person who sought the GOP nomination in 2008 that would be worse for America than Obama.

Your point bears repeating!

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
