IF that is for real...it is very creepy, indeed. I have seen another picture where he is totally ignoring the gesture altogether. They are one sorry spectacle. For sure.

FWIW:
I pulled up other pics of Michelle with her hair parted on the same side.
The coat buttons are on the correct side. A label pin is usually worn on the left side, as here. The wedding rings are on the correct hands.
And I’m not sure that what we’re seeing are medals. They don’t seem to be the right color.
