In Worst Economy In Decades Oregon Considers Massive Tax Hike

If you Tea Party goers in the western U.S. want a specific battle to fight there is none better than ballot measures 66 and 67 in the State of Oregon. The venerable Beaver State is preparing to chase out even more jobs and intends to tax its industry and small businesses to death with these badly timed measures but Oregonians have a chance to stop them by voting "no" on both 66 and 67.

During the worst national and state-wide economy since The Great Depression, with Oregon families losing jobs in every corner of the state, with businesses going out of business everywhere, the high-minded, left-wing state government has decided in its inestimable wisdom to launch the largest tax hike on the business community and the so-called rich in Oregon's history. In 2009 over 1$ billion in permanent tax hikes was signed into law by Governor Ted Kulongoski, the drunken sailor that sits in the State House in Salem.

An acquaintance from Oregon (a liberal professor), when informed that higher taxes would drive businesses out of Oregon and even out of America, responded by saying "so what...let 'em go."

If Oregon raises taxes, he will learn the lesson first hand that I was trying to communicate.

According Lars Larsons radio show many businesses are leaving/left Portland due to the extreme fees on everything.

I dont live near Portland.

Here on the coast we have lost 2 Mom/Pop grocery stores in the last 6months.

One in Yachets and one in Waldport.

Yachets now has No grocery store and must go north 15min drive (no traffic) to Waldports one locally owned grocery.

Up here where I live the family owned store redid the shelves so now you have only two labels to choosed from.

To go to a Safeway it is an hour and a half drive North or East over the Coast range.

I refuse to shop wal mart or Fred Meyer because it seems like a human zoo kinda vibe.

I do go once a month to Freddies to get family prescriptions because they are the best pharmacy. Has a very Christian vibe and very good service.

Where ever I go I try to shop local owned always have done that.

I can't feel sorry for Oregon. There must be a consequence for voting for Democrats. I live in Pennsylvania and our state has the same problem. My family must suffer because so many stupid union members think they can vote the Steel mills back into existence by voting for Democrats. I am stuck here in the state because all my family lives here, I have worked the same job for 32 years and I have a unique job that only exists here in my city. A lot of people are going to vote with their feet and leave these crazy states. It has already started.

The Oregonian came out this week with an editorial against the measures, you should have seen all the readers responses the next day slamming the Oregonian for their opinion.

I am fully against the measure, and have liberal friends and family that also are against it for the same reasons. They know who butters their bread, .... Business.

Southern Oregon is Moderately Conservative.

Not that we aren’t totally scr*wed by Portland.

Just that most of my neighbors are armed and vote against taxes.

A few years ago I went snowmobiling in Diamond lake in late Feb.
Had a wonderful time and three times since then I have gone along the coast looking for property. Beautiful, Lincoln City, Bend, the coast.
Just couldn’t put up with the govt in my pocket soooo very much.
